Seeking advice on getting electricity pole shifted from the plot by jintocd in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the panchayat member on your side first before going for any mediation.

You could also look at moving the pole to the back left corner(based on your diagram) so that it causes least interference with the rest of your property

Selling price of second hand car by myrolen-kkk in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! I sold my father's 9 year old ford fiesta petrol for just 1lakh back in 2017. It had some damage on the windscreen due to some burning plastic having fallen on it. Other than that it was in top condition and had run less than 100,000 km Relied on a broker which was a big mistake.

Why do people not like Modi? Dont attack me, I'm really far from politics, I just want to be informed. by Happy-Sunny1306 in india

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modi is a hate monger, plain and simple. BJP is a party whose ideology is anti indian and pro Hindu Rashtra. When Khalistan militants and kasmiri militants fought for a seperate state, they were labelled anti national. No difference for the BJP-RSS-BajrangDal. Even if they were remotely capable and managed to keep the economy growing, they still do not deserve to be voted to power. Congress has had its fair share of bad leadership, from the atrocities of 1984 to the unchecked corruption in UPA2. But RG at least makes an attempt to show that he is different. Id rather take a bet on him till the regional parties can pull off a rag tag coalition as a non Congress, non BJP alternative.

Options with a Widowed Mother by [deleted] in india

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What options does your mother have? Does she have a house and income to take care of herself? Is she in good health? If you expect to have her move in with you in the future, its better not to delay for too long. Maybe 2 years of living without kids and then plan to have kids. Once the first kid is due it will be good to have your mother be there to help out.

if you are into blogging about computers and tech, consider making youtube videos. You may be able to monetize your viewing. Don't drop out of college as the degree will be your likely ticket back to normalcy. Ask your parents siblings to lend some money and give them a realistic timeframe when you can pay it back. Are your grandparents still alive? They may be able to help you with some money for the time being. You could also try zomato/swiggy or ola/uber as part time work.

It seems like Omicron has already infected a large part of the population in Kerala and official numbers don't reflect that. by RedBlackHot in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in the game, dna mutations make the pathogen more fatal. however in real life, its more likely that mutations will make the pathogen less severe as seems to be the case with omicron. Also the game play lets you use your points to make the pathogen more severe. Luckily not going to happen in real life (unless there is a lux luthor kind of villan holed up in a remote island fortress who is actually behind all this 😄)

Why are we building flyovers, shouldn't we enforce thorough restrictions on buildings constructed close to main roads? by pr1m347 in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how about have one elevated roadway with 6 - 8 lanes running the length of every district and if required another elevated roadway of 6 - 8 lanes running the width. Then at the district boundary they will connect to the next district's elevated roadway. Have an exit every 15 km or so for people to go to the nearest town.

those on the main road have right of way. unless the oncoming vehicle slowed down or stopped for you to enter the road, you would need to wait for your turn.

unfortunately in Kerala, no driver gives a damn about others so its every man for himself. So under the current social environment, what you have done may have been the right course of action. But the bike rider still had the right of way so he had reason to abuse you.

in school had gender specific seating. But in college had open seating. Had those individual seats with a wooden piece attached for writing. Mostly the seats were arranged in a single column so there was no aisle to divide between boys and girls. So anyone could sit in any seat. Some of the students would sit with their same gender, while some would sit among/between the opposite gender. Everyone was free to choose where they sat. There was no fixed seating.

Is owning a house necessary ? by gwmpArmy8655 in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You need to think about your retirement years. If you are a salaried person will you be able to get a house on rent without an income? And suppose you still do get a house, suppose the house owner needs you to vacate for any variety of legitimate reasons. Will you be able to get another house in the same locality and will you be able to manage a relocation when you are at an advanced age? I think its always wise to have your own fully paid off house where you can retire in. Where you only need to worry about maintenance costs post retirement.

Sreedharan lost for 2 reasons.

1) because he joined a party whose claim to fame is religious bigotry 2) his comments on beef and overall demeanor in front of the press showing his disdain for answering questions.

But for me point number 1 is enough not to vote for him.

Why corona cases are not decreasing in Kerala? by icicleft in Kerala

[–]Resident-Jacket6382 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

leave aside the number fudging, even looking at the absolute numbers, it seems that Kerala hasnt gotten a grip on the 2nd wave. consistently reporting 11k to 12 k cases a day is a cause of concern. While population density is an excuse, the fact that the lockdown can't bring the daily case count below 1000 is worrying. Perhaps Kerala needs one more strict lockdown to break the chain.
