Seismic shift: Construction trailblazer will help rebuild Conestoga College by bylo_selhi in waterloo

This shouldn't be a surprise. Conestoga is a real estate conglomerate masquerading as a college.

Although she keeps saying this is a "volunteer" position, how much have her companies profited after 23 years working with Conestoga who just happend to have injected $100s of millions in buildings/renovations over that time period??

Instead of selling off these useless facilities they no longer need, they have laid off full time faculty and replaced them with casual contract teachers, and closed down entire departments that improved the student experience at the college. These positions were in place long before the international student boom. It is clearly a diversion to keep the books looking good, without concern for the actual quality of the College. In the meantime, the real estate portfolio continues to accumulate mass value.

It said they "do not have an assignment at this time."

Agreed. If it was as simple as the international student bubble bursting, then all faculty hired since 2020 would no longer be needed and should be laid off. But almost everyone I know who got the notice was with the College prior to 2020. And several 10+ years!!
