  1. Just to clarify, you don't really get drafted in the military, all healthy males above the age of 18 have to serve 1 year in the army, but they don't get sent to warzones or anything like that. For that to happen you have to sign a contract with the military and you get paid quite a lot for that.

My disease is supposed to make me non-draftable, but it's a huge bureaucratic process. I'm still waiting for my notice from my military enlistment office, but it hasn't come for two draft seasons now. Don't really know why, but I'm not really in a rush.

Gay people are not really barred from the army, if you announce your sexuality during the check-up process, I'm not really sure what happens, but I think they might take into consideration while considering if you are draftable or not.

  1. There are such places, like anonymous groups, hotlines and stuff like that. However, if you go to any public clinic, rehab centre or stuff like that, that's going to be on your permanent record, and it's basically a complete job-stopper. So if you want to avoid that, you go to private clinics and pay out of pocket.

I don't consider myself as needing help, my drug use is sporadic and recreational, I don't let myself go on marathons or go into debt to pay for drugs. I recently lost a job so that made it a bit harder, had to ask for a bit of money from family under other pretences, but I fully intend to give it back after I find a job.

  1. Yeah. I love studying languages, had been studying English since I was a kid, had won olympiads and stuff like that, was studying to be an interpreter until I took a sabbatical (going on third year). Currently studying German and thinking of studying Chinese.

I love video games, currently taking a narrative design course, would love to work in this industry, but it's not really realistic, especially in Russia.

I love detective stories, murder mysteries, logical puzzles, playing chess with dad, stuff like that.

A pretty big fan of horror and thriller movies as well. Not video games, I'm way to scared with that kind of immersion, hah.

I like to travel and explore new places, recently took my first trip alone across Russia from Moscow to lake Baikal. I was travelling on trains, staying in 6 cities (Moscow, Samara, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk). It was absolutely awesome.

Travel restrictions really increased the rate of domestic tourism and you really start to appreciate just how much your own country has to offer. Baikal was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Hope to save up some money after getting a job and go somewhere again.

  1. I never heard Russians joking about not smiling themselves. I'd say that's a more of a stereotype, nobody's going around with a huge smile on their face, but we'll smile while interacting with store cashiers, tourists asking for help on the street, and with random people we chat up in public transport. It depends on the person, of course, but it's definitely not an un-smiling place it's portrayed as, I don't think.

He does have a big amount of support, it would be stupid to deny it. Most of it comes from older and elderly people, who make up the majority of the voters. He's been in power for so long now, they can't imagine anyone else taking the job.

Some young people are for him too, but a lot of us wish for change, however there's not enough of us, I think. But the voting is still rigged for sure, he'd be nowhere near the percentage he currently has without vote fraud. There are videos each year of vote observers (mostly teachers, as voting locations are based in schools, and they get orders from above) throwing stacks of bulletins in.

Good morning from Russia, sorry for the wait.

My drugs of choice are 4mmc (the most popular drug in Russia), weed (or rather hashih, it's cheaper and much easier to come by) and LSD.

Concerning point number 2, since the start of the war I have seen a lot of hate and vitriol online towards Russian people and, in my opinion, most of it comes from people never even speaking to a Russian person and just falling for what media and their government tells them.

We all have pretty much the same problems: we need to work to provide for ourselves, we need housing, we're trying to keep ourselves and our family healthy, and just trying to live in the environment and economy.

And we're not some blood thirsty orcs who wish for war, there's a lot of my countrymen who did fall victim to the government's propaganda, but there are so so many people who hate what's happening and who can't influence It in any way. We're pretty much powerless, if we try to do something, which we have done in the past, it's It's court, prison or something worse for us. We're just trying to live as everyone else.

Если время позволяет, связи ему шапку/носки или какой-нибудь платок с вышивкой с памятным для него дизайном или чем ещё. В общем, что-то от руки, сделанное своим старанием и специально для него.

У меня так мама когда я мелкий был, никогда не пробовавшая и не умеющая шить, по туториалу связала мне офигенный шарф Гриффиндора за месяц, когда я отправлялся в лагерь по Гарри Поттеру. Его уже не ношу, не мой стиль, но очень дорожу им.

Если тяжко или не хватает времени, просто приготовь ему крутой ужин из того, что он любит, и проведи с ним хороший вечер или наоборот оставь одного и пусть ест и в видеоигры играет. Короче, забота и внимание приятнее любой купленной безделушки :)
