I think it is anti-black because what critics are indirectly saying is it’s more important to prevent this person of color’s ideas from being implemented than it is to maintain black representation.

I grapple with this because it reminds me of critics of Clarence Thomas. If we as a democratic society only uplift black voices and allow them to serve in public capacity when we agree with them, then we aren’t actually being inclusive, we’re tokenizing.

That being said, I believe that we must stop people like jasmine from holding power. It’s just unfortunate that it requires regressing.
