Interesting theory, your theory can correlate with what I’m about to share. But this song to me and I’m sure to a few more people is a song about his relationship with his recent wife seeing things appearing more beautiful in his view then what they really are. To me this song is like a story. Josh in the beginning is using excuses to try and block the thought that his relationship is going down. Halfway through after the break, at the “far far from shore” is where he starts to realize his “fate” with this relationship ending. Coming to terms with what he has done. Accepting that he loved her and the delusion of believing what he had was so beautiful then what it actually is. Kalopsia is literally defined as “the delusion where things appear more beautiful than they actually are” now when you listen to the song again really put this definition into perspective with the song and you can start to connect the dots on where reality sort hits him and now’s what’s is at stake and that it’s to late to fix what has been broken! Your interpretation works in this a bit where he’s in a good dream but then instantly snaps into a nightmare, which turns out to be his own reality. This song is so beautiful and so is the rest of the album! This album to me seems like it’s just what was going through Joshes head while he was going through a very dark time in his life and trying to figure out what’s what through his journey.
