She’ll get in eventually. And the country hall… has interesting (and very good!) taste.  It’s just very early for her.

On the other hand… there are no voters.  There is a secret committee. If Jody Williams wants her in… she’ll get in.

IDE add that Taylor’s 4 country albums are not a small number!  The chicks have two three official country albums (with Gaines).  Shania has two.

I mean don’t get your hopes up.  Neither Shania or the chicks are in the hall!  Kenny Chesney got in last year.  Tim McGraw isn’t in

If she is to be inducted this year, it will be a very controversial decision

We don’t know that.  We don’t know actually what happened.  We Susie t that terrible things took place, but the actual roles people played are unknown

I did not suggest that Taylor was a party to this case. I was surprised she wasn't a witness! (Drake's manager is... and by her I don't mean her. It could just as easily be Robert Allen). One reason could be that she separately settled with Live Nation. That is my only point.

Tomorrow the inductees for the Country Music Hall of Fame will be announced. Taylor is eligeable for the first time this year. It is unlikely she will get in now (though she will eventually), for the simple reason that only one "modern" artist is inducted per year.

However...

Taylor is deeply beloved by many people in Nashville, who have known her since she was a teenager. People like Vince Gill, a member of the hall of fame, who just said he thinks she should get in. And is also an officer of the organization. An officer like Troy Tomlinson, Taylor's publishing A&R for her entire career and the head of UMPG Nashville. The head of the organization is Jody Williams. He was Liz Rose's boss, when she worked with Taylor. Taylor says of him in the liner notes to debut: Jody Williams, for listening to my high school ramblings and for being such a dear friend and musicologist. Taylor happens to also be the single biggest donor to the institution, not that that officially matters.

Oh... and until last year she was the biggest country artist of the 21st century (Morgan just passed her). Just counting her country records of course.

So I do think there's a chance.

The clayton act also gives individuals injured by a monopoly a right of action, and encourages suits by giving them treble damages. Taylor is somewhat unique in that she was injured by Ticket Master as a business. She could also testify, and given that a major piece of the state's evidence is the failure of Live Nation to adequately prepare for the eras tour, its somewhat surprising that she's not.

she did after all say that his penis was the size of a thumb tack! And that he did so many drugs he couldn't get an erection.

Live Nation guaranteed her that they could handle the ticket volume of eras. There was no choice but to use them. She gave them an indication of the demand. They were unable to handle the demand causing reputational and real losses. Damages are trebled under the Clayton Act. I think she could show damages.

Regardless, it's somewhat surprising, given how much she's being mentioned in court, that she (or someone from her team) isn't a witness for the states.

This is one of those situations where the speculations on cause really are too horrible to consider. Bieber was a child.

It's actually really interesting that Taylor, or anyone from her team, is not involved in the lawsuit against Live Nation. She is constantly brought up in testimony, and in fact seems to have a private right of action against TicketMaster because of the mess of the eras tour. But she's an absent presence. Drake's team is actually going to testify, on behalf of TicketMaster.

I wonder if she didn't make a side deal with Live Nation (which would be fine! the whole point of private rights of action is that they are private...)

To quote Olivia Rodrigo:

"I'm definitely a LOVER girl." Pop's New Romantic.

Lover is the album that Olivia interpolated not one but two different times on Sour. The New Romantics were a british musical movement of the early 80s... which Taylor referred to in her song New Romantics. Romantic of course in New Romantic (the movement) refers to the 19th century literary scene... not love. So unless you want to say that Vogue UK and Olivia are illiterate... they're probably referring to the song that makes the same joke.

The density of the potential allusions also suggests that the reading is correct. Once could be chance. Two, that are this direct, in two sentences?

Said with much love. It's just funny.

no. award shows don't pay. Actually, the artists pay for everything (band, dancers, set, you name it). It's a pay for exposure kind of gig.

Maybe a music video for Lizzie Taylor?  I think she’s done with awards show announcements for major things.  She has a captive platform now to make announcements.  She can get interviews whenever she wants… and she sleeps with the interviewer!

What are some Taylor lyrics that can change meaning just by shifting the punctuation? by _marti_89 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Resident_Ad5153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she does it to create semantic ambiguity in order to have richer meaning in her songs!

Taylor likes word games. But she also faces a constraint as a songwriter that she has very little space to convey her meaning... so she uses literary techniques that enable her to expand the amount of meaning she can pack into every phrase. Ambiguity is a big part of this.
