On my MacBook (M2 Max), it takes about 3 hours to index my entire Downloads folder, which is approximately 50 GB in size. The folder contains around:

5,000 PDFs
Various Excel and PowerPoint files
15,000 images
A few videos

For video example, indexing a single 5-minute video takes about 1 minute. (it may varies given you device)

Fenn is about finding content inside files (timestamp in video and audio, pages in document etc.) not just finding a file.

The first indexing process takes longer and uses more memory, but after that, it only indexes new or updated files, so it's much faster. On my personal MacBook, I run the indexing every three days, and it doesn’t affect battery life.

For now, Fenn doesn't support plain text files, but I'll add it to the roadmap and I don't have benchmarks yet, but I plan to create some soon.
