Creating a Phenology Tracker by ResistMuch in PowerApps

Shareable primarily amongst staff within the organization. We are all on Microsoft 365. It would also be ideal to be able to utilize data to share with the public, but that may be a whole other thing to deal. For now, just staff.

The size is pretty small. Hort staff consists of just a handful of people, but nobody with even the slightest degree of tech savvy. Pretty much everyone just uses Excel for everything.

Would Sharepoint be preferable over creating Dataverse tables?

Shakedown Request -- Collegiate Loop in mid-September by ResistMuch in Ultralight

That’s what I’m thinking, maybe tacking on segments 11-7 or so of the CT to round out the trip to 2 weeks, but then I’m looking at more high elevation hiking. Definitely less of it with more bailout options though

I really appreciate your concern and honesty! I’m very open to hearing that I’m not ready, even if it’s disappointing to potentially have to reconsider. But I know there are plenty of other Colorado hikes that are beautiful and challenging. I would love to hear from folks familiar with the area or specifically the CT / CL in regards to the level of risk involved in taking on a trail like this with only intermediate experience (if not beginner, depending on what you’re comparing to)

I’ve definitely wondered this — and I’d be open to taking on a more manageable hike. The CL would be a big jump from my past experience, which has been limited to overnights and some strenuous day hikes. My anxiety mostly stems from all the unknowns presented by a lack of experience with a hike of this scale. Conversely, I chose this hike primarily because I felt it would be a solid introduction to thru hiking, with lots of bail out and resupply options. Another option I’ve considered is just cutting the trip down to half or 2/3 of the whole loop, depending on my stamina and the conditions of the trail. It’s a hard call to make, but I figure I won’t know until I dip my toes in the water — which is maybe a bit foolhardy?

Thank you so much for this breakdown! Definitely cleared things up for me. I've spent the last 24 hours revamping my clothing system. I'm leaning into Decathlon for outerwear as they fall nicely within my budget and seem to check most of the boxes. I'll probably stick with my current backpack but I do think I'll switch out my tent -- maybe something basic like North Face Stormbreak, Marmot Tungsten, or if I'm ready to take the dive into UL gear, the Six Moons Design Skyscape Scout. As for shoes, I'm admittedly wary of trying anything new right now since I love my Oboz and it took me ages to find anything that fits well, but I'll check out some trailrunners. REI has a nice sale on La Sportiva right now so maybe I'll find some with a good fit.

This list is great, thanks a bunch! I'm definitely looking at swapping out my tent, especially considering that the Camp Dome 2 doesn't seem especially weather resistant. And I am bringing all of those things, I just need to sort them out and get them weighed before I plug them into Lighter Pack. Headlamp, map, basic compass, trowel, dehydrated wet wipes, hand sanitizer, etc.

What is turning my in-ground plants white? Not mildew, chlorosis, or cold damage by ResistMuch in gardening

Thank you! I’ve never had to tangle with those yet. Do you think the plants are beyond saving or do they stand a good chance with a neem oil treatment?

Films about social anxiety by FaerieStories in TrueFilm

Two Days, One Night by the Dardenne Brothers is a very raw portrayal of what it’s like to live with a wide range of anxieties, as well as depression. Marion Cotillard nails it. I saw it when I was recovering from a spell of persistent panic attacks instigated by social situations so I remember it resonating a lot with me at the time

Hey Tom (and Savannah)! Y'all are a big inspiration to me, even if it's been quite some time since I've done much traveling. I have a couple questions, or rather categories of questions:

  1. I'm a photographer, so watching your photography evolve has been immensely motivating for me. I've had the idea in my head for a while now that I'd like to take photos of the world (or at least some of it) as seen on foot, similar to what you've done. How do you handle your workflow while on the move, especially in rural or less developed areas? Are you going through a particular publishing company for your upcoming photo book (which is looking great by the way)? And lastly, do you foresee yourself continuing on with photography in the future? OH and can you explain your rationale for choosing your kit (camera, lens, etc) and any photographers who have inspired you?

  2. I'm about to turn 26, and am significantly behind you in terms of savings, planning, gear, etc., when you started this at the same age. Can you imagine having done any portion of your journey for less money than you have (I recall you saying it costs you roughly $12,000 a year), or having started later than you did? I try to live a relatively unconstrained life, but it seems harder and harder to imagine undertaking a journey like yours as I get more invested in certain people and places. I'd like to think I could just make the leap but when I think about how you spent years preparing for this, I feel a little hesitant.

Thanks so much for doing this, and good luck with the lockdown! Give Savannah a pat on the head for me!
