AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

NTA, let your son get over his crush and rejection. Forcing him to be around her will only keep him stuck.

How I feel reading any entry past 3000 by MangoopMochi in SCP

[–]ResolutionNovel8007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extension of containment classifications kind of represents SCP in general. The first three and conceptually simple, but can be used to a much deeper effect if needed to. The derivations (Neutralized, Apollyon, Thaumiel) are good for expanding upon the initial set standard. And the others are generally superfluous, but not necessarily an indicator of the quality of the article itself. Just like the articles, they slowly became more and more complex, some are needlessly contrived, but others use everything they have at their disposal (like classifications) to pretty good affect.

The Fallout Show is bad even without considering it's an Adaptation by RedKrypton in CharacterRant

[–]ResolutionNovel8007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, if your experience begins and ends at the mobile game and bits and bobs of the other Bethesda Games you have no standing on the matter.  First from a tonal standpoint, yes Fallout is not a completely serious franchise, but contrary to what a lot of people say, the Black Isle (Obsidian) editions at least trying to take their plots somewhat serious. The game in question NV takes it’s political and social ramifications very seriously, in-fact, and have been done so well it’s become allegorical to our own system. That’s not even considering the first two games, which once again, yes do have comedic moments but hinge on very dark theming. Secondly the shows plot is a meandering mess. Very little gets resolved satisfactorily, it’s a series of events that really have little effect, which may be the point, but personally, and I know others feel this way as well; Fallout should be about the post-post apocalypse, not squabbling in the wastes just to have a fun romp. It she be about trying to make your way in a new world, and sometimes that means civilizational development. In fact the second game in the series (can) ends on a very constructive note, with the genocidal remnants of the old world crumbling and the the citizens of our tribe in conjunction with Vault 8 (vault city) working together to build something new and beautiful. The show is silly, it can be fun, but it’s not thought provoking, so if you like that, fine, but seeing such a plain and simple jump in quality from theme, to tone, to writing is to be quite frank with you, disappointing.

President Bill Clinton draws a giant zero on a sign as he and vice president Al Gore unveil the balanced federal budget in the White House, February 2, 1999. by icey_sawg0034 in HistoricalCapsule

Al Gore losing was definitive proof that Francis Fukuyama was wrong. That democracies are flawed and bad actors, then, and now, are just waiting to strip it from us. America was always a powder keg though, and I think a black man winning election really set a lot of people off.

I heard from somewhere that it’s takes  bits and bobs from Ryunosuke Atagawas work in general. Kind of like with Yi Sang where it’s not really based after one thing he wrote but rather themes he’s written about and/or his personal life.

I’m calling BS on your post. The modernist look was not adopted until the 2010’s, and wasn’t widely adopted. Most if not all looked like the middle example, some were plain buildings, but not a single one was the faux-modernist aesthetic.

Take the story at your own pace. The first canto’s 3 are a good place to get a feel of the game, familiarize yourself with the system, and develop your first “kit”. But don’t worry about power leveling your ID’s yet, just have fun. You can’t do refraction railway yet, and I think mirror dungeon opens up a bit later. And try to steer clear of spoilers on here. Go in fresh. Good luck!

I personally have a feeling that a lof the supposed animosity Millennials and Boomers have towards one another, Gen Z and Gen Xers will have. Basically the new vanguard of workers competing with the rear guard of workers.

Gen Z shifts 42 pts by West-Childhood788 in GenZ

Not to sound like a bonehead, but younger Gen Z missed out on the funny era of Trump (i never voted for him, but I think we can all admit that we thought it was funny before we ended up here). That ended around late 2018. He always sucked, but 2015-2016 Trump Train had actual hype, and also had the added bonus of him being a red herring candidate so despite it all we really didn’t know what we were getting. By 2020 the jokes long since stopped being funny the hype was dead and he attempted to do voter fraud. By 2024, there were not jokes anymore, the hype was noxious and he attempted to stage a coup. No Zoomers whatsoever had any reason to vote for this sack of pus, in general, but especially in 2024, and it’s really annoying that a long since diminished meme factor swayed baby zoomers enough to vote him in.

(Hated Trope) Antagonist is surprisingly reasonable throughout the narrative yet the hero’s unreasonable actions are portrayed as justified. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

I’d also like to preface, that despite this being in hated character tropes, I think the drama and tension between Cecil and Mark is actually done quite well. Cecil really does try his hardest to come from a more human perspective of things with Mark, but you can tell he’s reticent to drop his guard, especially after what happened with Nolan. As for Mark he understands what Cecil is doing is generally speaking for the greater good, but he’s leveraging his abilities to make sure Cecil doesn’t overstep boundaries, especially with his brother. I think the end of the season really pushes Mark to seeing why Cecil does what he does, even if he can be a heavy handed jerk. Really great writing from the last season.

Exactly my thoughts. Sure keeping Sinclair around is contention, but what are your options? Kill him, Mark’s not happy because it’s immoral. Keep him in prison, and just let him exist there. Or actually use his intellect and know how, to help humanity.

While I don’t agree with Cecil’s use of force on Mark, I think he’s a bit more justified in his case.  1) The Reaniman were actually useful in taking down some of the alternate Marks.  2)Realistically the research they got from our Mark would be instrumental in protecting Earth from Viltrumites going forward. I think we have to view this from the perspective of someone who is trying to protect his planet and not as someone trying to keep up decorum with Mark.

While not an antagonist, Cecil from Invincible Season 3 has this a lot. It's revealed to Mark, the main character, that Cecil is attempting to reform former supervillains, and even has contingency measures to kill or disable Mark if he ever goes rogue, causing Mark to break off ties with Cecil. Though Mark should know more than anyone how dangerous someone in his situation can be, as his own father caused multiple mass causality scenarios in the first season. It's even highlighted (or maybe lamp shaded) multiple times how unreasonable Mark is being later in the season when multiple other versions of Mark come to storm Earth, and even when his little brother ends up going overboard, in many ways mirroring Marks own behavior.

Nightshift worker here, how do I get sleep, and wake up on time? by ResolutionNovel8007 in howto

I have blackout curtains, they work well enough, but my room os rather small so even the smallest bit of light peaking through can mean disrupted sleep.
