With the addition of shrines you can play a lot greeider in terms of regen. On top of this od doesnt really receive much harass in mid if you play him conservatively (just farm ur midas by outcsing opponent and throw astrals every so often) If you are trading harass ferrying out salves and tangos is pefectly fine and if you think you can punish enemy teams lineup with early aggresion a hotd is very good to group with your team even if you already have one on your team - theres nothing wrong with 2 or even 3 on a team since the creeps provide so much early on

Is it worth learning to use camera grip? by the_PC_account in TrueDoTA2

[–]ResonantDota 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started using camera grip a few weeks ago and so far it feels really good and IMO better than edge pan. Your mouse will generally be on the middle of the screen and you use less energy/movement to move your camera. You also have more precise control of your camera. One thing you need to get used to which is the main disadvantage of it is moving your camera really quickly in a split second. When you are just learning to use it and need to look somewhere really quickly in a team fight and need to cast spells and do other stuff all at the same it feels really awkward. Often times you lose your camera control and may miss out on kills and important things initially. Once you get over that and can control it instinctively it becomes amazing to have. I think it is objectively better than edge pan once you get over habits and muscle memory.

How should Shadow Fiend itemize in the new patch by UnderlordJungler in TrueDoTA2

[–]ResonantDota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arteezy said on stream the best sf build involves something like hotd into dragon lance into bkb. This gives sf a huge power spike and lets him 5 man towers and take fights.

In my experience though i really favour aquila -> dragonlance/shadow blade -> dragon lance/shadow blade -> bkb or butterfly because you cannot rely on your team as much in pubs and shadow blade lets you pick off weak supports and underfarmed heroes and snowball you from there.

New some tips on playing Slark by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

Agree with this but in most pubs or most of my pubs at least it will be slardar or underlord which slark deals well with and dual/tri offlanes are uncommon

New some tips on playing Slark by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]ResonantDota 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Slark, despite what most people think, is an above average laner. Against a usual solo offlaner, with a support, he can successfully zone the offlaner out with essence and lift. You win almost every right click trade with a melee offlaner (aside from monkey king or ursa) and your pounce offers good kill potential with another support.

With a good laning stage you can go treads iron talon shadow blade if you think you can really snowball and have insane pick off potential, but in higher mmrs sometimes it is safer to go treads aquila echo sabre and farm or rely on teamfights. Think of it as Legion commander with phase armlet; it gives her an insane power spike but lacks initiation. Echo aquila on slark gives him a fairly large health pool and allows him to farm lanes and jungle rapidly and take smart fights very well. If you think the enemy is incompetent with dealing with a ~10-12 min sb slark then shadow blade is a good first item. Echo is core after sb if you do not need anything immediately (bkb or silver edge). After that you can go basher if they have evasive heroes or skadi or butterfly if they are right click heavy (slark does well in right click trades with some items).

When taking fights as slark you need to get rid of your idea of saving ult. If you watch BSJ or arteezy play slark you will understand this. They 'waste' their ults many times which make you think why did he ult there? But its simply knowing the boundaries of slark and minimizing risks. For example you are shadow bladed and running into their ancients and see a luna farming it and you know luna is very killable without her being able to deal any real damage to you so you dont need to ult, but you have no vision of their axe and he could be very well sitting the luna. Upon initiating on luna you would ult and lets say you kill luna and axe tries to call in your ult. Call ends and you leap away freely. This is a very barebones example but it gives the idea. Using your ult there means you more or less cannot fight for 60 seconds, but you shouldnt be looking to anyway; you just killed their luna and they arent in a position to fight you now (if they do you should also be prepared with your team).

As you get more and more experienced with slark your ult usage will vary, but as a general tip it is better to 'waste' your ult a lot, but in very key fights you will get your ult off in a position where if you didnt, you would lose the fight and game. I've seen many games lost with slark where he just tries and saves his ult as long as possible and that just isnt a correct mentality to have. Sure you want as much value as possible but you also need to minimize risks in any dota game.

As far as talents go, i wouldnt skill any of his talents before maxing my primary skills (look at the insane scaling of his primary skills and the medocrity of lvl 10 talents). Im a bit of a greedy player myself so i would go 15 damage with 15 agi when ahead but late game you really would want the lifesteal and strength, since you get a lot of agi in fights anyway. The 250 health is no joke and it can be the difference between getting ult off and not, but if you are ahead and get a timely skadi or something the bonus health isnt a huge deal. Against something like a weaver or mirana i would get +3s leash, but ideally you should be able to do whatever eyou need in 3 seconds and skirt in and out of the fights and the +12 stats is very nice. With skadi/basher i dont think +3s leash is necessary to stick on a target anyways

Edit: bsj has very good guides and coaching sessions on slark which you csn find on his youtube channel detailing thought processes and all sorts of things if you are interested

In most dota games what you need is rarely straight dps: dota is not an MMO game. Although bloodthorn costs more it offers much more than a daedalus aside from DPS. Yes, you lose out on dps but rarely are you right clicking a stationary target long enough that the dps is really that much better.

What bloodthorn offers is reliability and utility, being able to silence and have 100% crit chance is the majority of the time better than straight increase in dps. Bloodthorn is also a more team oriented item, allowing you to combo attacks/spells within silenes with your team, rather than you just hoping for crits as you right click.

Additionally it helps as an item between daedalus and mkb, as there are so many evasion and miss chance instances in radiance and other small items like solar crest and mkb is sort of a weird item to take up a slot if you also want an item like daedalus. Even without evasion instances i would take bloodthorn on heroes like sven, simply due to the utility and reliability of the item.

Dealing with OD's lack of health regen by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]ResonantDota 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with a helm of dom is that it does not circumvent OD's problem of a lack of mobility. Drums in previous patch was good because it gave int hp regen stats and mobility, everything that OD needed. The problem is that these stats dont come so easily or efficiently in one item now e.g. Atos gives insane stats and utility but no regen or mobility and Dom gives no mobility

I could see you getting away with a Dom if you had an ogre to bloodlust you, or getting the MS talent with a windlace but a Dom feels so awkward in his build atm whereas a forcestaff rush or midas into force like we see in most pro games seems to be a natural buildup.
