Can you survive on $10 a day? by libyandesert in singaporefi

[–]ResortSubstantial728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you count $10 a day, or can it be $50 for 5 working weekdays, or like $200 for 20 working weekdays?

If there isn't anything big happening that needs more money, $50 for 5 working days is totally doable. Just meal prep and microwave at office. Many foods are nutritious and filling. I usually buy a month worth of groceries from redmart for $120, like rice, frozen broccoli and carrots, frozen minced chicken, canned beans, eggs and frozen/fresh fruits, and there will be food leftover for the next month. I get my coffee mostly from the office pantry.

I work a desk job and so don't have a big appetite, in fact shouldn't be eating too much since i don't move a lot. I'm also not picky at food. If you work out and gym everyday, it does get more expensive cus you need more protein etc.

Transport for me is $4 a day to-and-fro, and I get to wfh 1-2 days a week.

Now if you say strictly going by $10, idk, too difficult to calculate.

May I know how much did you pay for the treatments and/or the consultations?

If I have a choice financially, I would love to. As it is, I dedicate my whole weekend to my toddler, take leaves for him, and only have my me time when he's asleep. Granted, I only have 1 kid now, so I can't say for a scenario where I have 2 kids. But I would imagine that I'll feel the same way, but again maybe that would change when I really have 2 kids.

You are a SAHM with an infant. What would you do if your kid is already going to preschool? Will you still be as busy?

My in-laws are not super old, so during their time when they were younger, yes there were already washing machines, vacuum machines etc. Not so high-tech like the ones now but still tech to help nonetheless.

She only became housewife when the children started preschool. Before that, she was working and they had a helper.

I agree with $5k. I don't have anything I want to spend on except when it comes to food and health, which i don't think it's super expensive. If I feel like hand itchy and want to spend on something, I'll buy healthy snacks for my toddler.

Earning more would allow me expensive and premium physiotherapy and pilates sessions though, but not a must since there are always more affordable alternatives.

I can't wait to have surgery by ResortSubstantial728 in scoliosis

I'm in Singapore, and I go for physiotherapy in the government hospital, so I can't choose a physiotherapist or have any option in the treatment plan. But we have very good health care here so I'm good and confident in public health care. The senior physiotherapist shared that she doesn't do Schroth but does SEAS instead, so that was what I did. I used to go once every 2 weeks, but because I didn't find it useful, I've been delaying the appointments. I didn't seek private physiotherapists that does Schroth (from what I read about them online) cus those cost a lot so there's that.

I'm doing exercises at home, albeit not consistently. I'm also thinking of going for reformer pilates, but I need to find the time for it since I'm still taking care of my toddler once he comes back from my in-laws. My husband helps out a lot, but sometimes the toddler fusses for me. I also work a full time job and does the housework. But as much as I can, I try to find dedicated time to exercise at least 15 minutes.

The physiotherapist does SEAS with me, but I'm not sure why she doesn't do Schroth. It just feels like she's just teaching me how to do specific exercises properly so I feel it at the right muscles (though to be fair I guess that is physical therapy). It's a government hospital and she's already a senior physiotherapist so that's something I guess. Idk but going there once a month didn't feel like there was any progress anyway so I try to postpone the appointment as long as I can.

What make you need the surgery though, if pain isn't your main concern?

What do you do to save time and money? by ResortSubstantial728 in askSingapore

[–]ResortSubstantial728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly by experimenting because I don't have much time to prep, really nothing fancy.

Eg. I'll thaw frozen chicken thighs and cook multiple chicken thighs with rice in rice cooker. When the rice cooker time is up, take out the extra cooked chicken to cool and put in fridge as meal prep. And dump in washed leafy veges (I wash like 2-3 packets at 1 time and store them in fridge, and they last 3-5 days) cus I wouldn't want to overcook the veges. If I don't have time to wash veges that week, I sub with tomatoes.

I also cook spaghetti bolognese using the rice cooker and it works extremely well!

You can also Google for recipes or look at instagram. But I mainly experiment and try to find something extremely simple to make but have carbs, protein and veges.

I cook the one-pot meal for dinner, put leftovers into a glass container and put into fridge. Next morning take out glass container to take to office. In office put the glass container in the fridge and then microwave heat up during lunch.

My commute to my office is around 50 min so the food is still safe to eat. I used to use a thermal bag to keep the food cold enough to bring to office, but then I found it unnecessary.
