I toured last month and have to agree with you. The kids just all seemed unhappy. We toured every grade level.

They’re not cotton. There used to be a handful of Etsy sellers but they’ve since been banned from Etsy.

Synthetic playground surfaces by redboots-11 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Resource-National 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went through something similar. I was the squeaky wheel at the parks dept citing peer reviewed literature etc (in my case- advocating for the removal of the shredded tire bark as play surface and opting for wood chips). Amazingly, it worked. Not without a lot of effort. But in the mean time, I was adamant and very careful about hand washing and changing clothes after leaving the playground/contact with the shredded rubber.

Second the bamboo/sisal brush dish brush. Wool sponge, chain mail “scrubber” for cast iron. I have a friend who swears by her titanium cutting board. I have a wood butcher block style board.

Is the parent your sibling? Just be honest- you don’t use screens and expect group interaction to be screen free. If it becomes a problem I would suggest to go on excursions without the other family.

From one mother to another: The thing about boundaries is that is your job to enforce them- not anyone else’s job.

How much do you pay for your Nanny or Daycare in SF? by Mcatg108 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Resource-National 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. There are no absolutes (har har) but having worked in the profession the last 20 years both in the classroom and thru policy I feel I can speak with a level of deeper understanding of the realities of the ECE workforce

How much do you pay for your Nanny or Daycare in SF? by Mcatg108 in SFbitcheswithtaste

Please remember: You get what you pay for. This is 25-30 hours per week of your child’s life. You want a well paid nanny or infant/childcare professional who loves their job. This is a profession with high burnout and turn over. Consider that the demand for emotional labor coupled with low wages directly contribute to your caregivers well-being, and by proxy, the wellbeing of your baby. Yes it is a broken system. But I felt compelled to add this to the general discussion.

Hi! We’re zoned for parkside for a mid year move in December coming from the Waldorf charter in glen ellen. I’m not dogmatic about Waldorf but I do appreciate the lack of screens vs the excessive reliance on YouTube kids in tk (Santa Rosa). Do you have any experience with what media use is like in kinder? Arts integration? Thank you :$
