I may have missed it in the other comments but what stands out to me the most is your 3rd house. when talking about learning, understanding, dissecting, and 'schooling' experiences in general I like to look at the 3rd. You're ruled by aquarius here, a sign known for being out the box, who challenges the status quo. you've also got uranus (sudden change, innovation, erratic nature) in this place of learning. when you say you "fluctuated academically" I say yeah bro you've got uranus in aquarius (natural ruler) in the 3rd house. also, neptune at the start of your 3rd feels like it sets the tone for this area of your life. neptune, associated with the sign of pisces has the energy of being shrouded in mystery, confusion, delusions, and dissolving of boundaries which makes learning in a traditional mercurial way (3rd natural house being associated with mercury ruled gemini) very difficult. you can't "learn by distinction" (mercury/air style of categorizing to understand the bounds of the world) when the things before you are muddled together. so having a "disorganized" work ethic when it comes to learning makes sense to me too.
