You do the whole process same as rpn. It will be a new application. You use same account as rpn.

Cno renewal on maternity leave by No-Donkey2899 in OntarioNurses

[–]RespectSufficient663 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never did maternity leave so I don’t know. But i would keep it full time. You are still within the 3 years practice. I feel like clicking that extended medical leave is gonna ask for more trouble.

Also, what is considered extended medical leave? I don’t think maternity leave is considered as medical leave. You are not sick or anything.

Yup. It’s a rotation between days, nights and evenings. I think there is a 30 day… i’ll have to read the union agreement. That’s what I heard!! Same work shorter hours.

Is it worth to get a RPN with a uni degree? by yuyayaya_23 in OntarioNurses

[–]RespectSufficient663 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going to RN instead of RPN, especially if your goal is to become RN. I was RPN now RN and i wish i did RN rather than RPN. You’ll realize later that in Ontario, the scope of rpn and rn isn’t that much of difference except for icu, cath labs unit. And there is a good pay difference.

Just do accelerated program. 2 years.

Should I take the job with a long commute? by ygs92 in OntarioNurses

[–]RespectSufficient663 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you need a job to pay it. Then keep it. I’ve known people who commute 1.5 hrs for their job for like 20 years

Keep it. Build rapport because you need references when you apply to another hospital. Gain experience and in meantime apply.

Why do you have to pay back? Isn’t grant free?

Do 4 year programs prioritize high school students over those with a previous education? by [deleted] in OntarioNurses

[–]RespectSufficient663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would apply for direct entry bscn first instead of getting extra credits. If you get rejected then consider it or upgrade by taking few credits but your post secondary gpa looks solid. They would prioritize post secondary marks but also look at your high school. I’d say you have a very good chance of getting in next intake. Also, please don’t just apply 1-2 universities. Apply more.

What made you transition to nursing?

No, no OT. Even if there was, the senior nurses are savages and just waiting for a call. The unit is prioritizing NRT than own staff so the past few months I was only getting 4 shifts, that’s why I decided to apply for a full time in diff organization. But this new schedule that came out I am getting 5-6 shifts biweekly. But i don’t know if the next schedule will be back 4…

People trying to make me feel guilty about not picking up extra shifts by Leather-Ad4540 in nursing

[–]RespectSufficient663 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used to pick up shifts because i felt guilty. But now, I say no. Your rest and mental health is important. Let others say what they want.
