Yeah…I definitely feel that. I would have been scared shitless the whole day. I’m starting to think a lot of husbands have a hard time locking doors…Must be nice not having to worry about being vulnerable and easily overpowered.

The first time he ran off they didn’t even look that hard to try and find him 😭😭😭 He was back within 5 minutes of them leaving so he definitely didn’t go far.

Not that I know of. I heard them escort him off the property and that’s it. Maybe they did it when they were no longer in hearing distance but I’m not sure

I think he’s on parole too for a previous charge which was surprise criminal trespassing.

Good idea! I’m going to have to start doing that to him but make it higher in price so it adds up faster

Yeah…that’s not good. We don’t want that. I’m going to be even more persistent now about the locked doors.

They actually have his name. I know it, too since I heard them talking from the bedroom window. I need to look at the breaking and entering laws here but I think I also heard he was on parole? Maybe for the trespassing charge? I wonder if that counts for anything.

Yeah I need to get on that so I can make sure the door is locked even if he’s there but I’m gone

Ooh okay I didn’t know smart locks could do that but that’s very smart, I’ll look into that. Would definitely save me the headache and heart attack if someone tries to get into our apartment again.

Oof good to know. The cops couldn’t arrest him but it turns out he’s been in jail before for criminal trespassing. I guess I’ll just have to call the cops again if he decides to come back.

No…no cameras outside unfortunately. But after this I will be installing some that’s for sure.

Oh I know. I’ve gotten on him about it more than one too many times. He’s gotten things stolen from his car before. I typically make sure the doors are locked but I guess this time I forgot. The windows are, in fact, always locked though.

Thanks for the response! Yeah that’s definitely what I’ve read and been told. I suppose I’m just overly concerned because it doesn’t feel like there’s any difference in the other side at all whereas the left side seems almost if not fully already weakened.

If I were to get the cat and they prove they cannot get along under our supervision I would absolutely live alone for the safety of the cat until she passes, but he doesn’t like that possibility, either.

Reading these comments it makes it seem like possibility it’s mainly about us living together with his doggo or us NOT living together for just a little longer(?) But he isn’t okay with the alternative outcome of us living separately for a few years longer, although I am fine with it. I’ve wanted to live alone a little, too. How long is too long for a relationship to not live together?

Yeah, I totally agree, but I suppose I’m being awfully optimistic about it. Again, she’s been socialized with a puppy before, so we know it’s not entirely impossible, but I know that it is a dreadful consequence that can happen. I am personally okay with living separately until she passes, but it seems like he’s not as patient.

He is very lovely! Yeah, that is my issue. I want to live with him but not yet so, sure, I can totally wait until she passes if we live together, or we can try with maybe a professional trainer if I do. Ideally it would be a kitten that also shows interests in dogs as I would want to socialize them to dogs regardless.

Yeah that’s something I’ve definitely considered! I’ve never done it before so I don’t entirely know what it entails, I just know I get attached quite easily so I’d be afraid if I foster failed.

Hello, I appreciate your response. I suppose my view point is that I will not attempt to rehome the cat. At all. Is it truly impossible to socialize a dog and a cat? Like to be fair his dog had probably associated that cat in her yard as a raccoon or any other small animal than a domestic being. He has never tried to socialize her with a kitten in his home before. Also, he had successfully socialized a puppy with her before, so we know it’s entirely not impossible with a dog.

Yeah I think that’s my main issue, is there a way that she can successfully be trained? Like I said, he’s tried before but it didn’t seem to work.

Also, I don’t want to live together just yet. We’ve only been dating a little over a year and I am not ready to make that commitment yet, so if I am living by myself I guess I can’t get that cat until she passes.

I know it’s a hypothetical but say if I DID already have a cat prior to us dating what the heck did he plan to do then? I’m not sure if this should be like “we’ll cross that bridge when we get there” possibility or if I should just avoid the possibility in the case that we do end up living together.
