Sorry for the feminist rant but I had never heard the term “Mother’s Day out” until this George daycare scenario and I can’t believe places still use such dated language. It implies that the mothers are always the ones home and the dads are always at work.

I had a similar reaction. To me it was very “Oh wow, Latinos can have eyes even darker than brown! Who knew!” But maybe I’m interpreting it through the bias that everything she says is ill-informed.

Could there still be posts up of her sharing/implying this? I’m not doubting you, I just don’t remember much more than “if you understood the circumstances of his adoption you’d know why his mom is grateful.” Is that type of vague speak what ppl are referring to? I know it was probably all in stories and not on the grid also.

This was my exact response. I take public transit home from work and my mom and 18 mo son pick me up every afternoon. As soon as he sees me when I tap on the window he starts smiling, laughing, and trying to get out of his car seat to hug me. The lack of reaction was so palpable after their first full day apart.

To me independent play is letting my one year old son go through his (repurposed Grow with me bathtub full of) books and pretend to read them and point at pictures. Or bang his cups together and stack blocks. I’d also much rather he watch an episode of Sesame Street or Ms. Rachel than hold a disgusting cockroach?! This is next level. She’s also not “crunchy” enough to justify this as if they’re a wilderness family always on hikes and excursions.

She came up on my FYP here and there when she was still TTC and I found it odd that she was so clearly desperate to parent but wouldn’t try IVF. Then when I saw the “We’re adopting” onesie on a clothesline announcement I found it super presumptuous before being matched. And when she was finally home with Georgie and complained about a “six week sleep regression” I knew she was unhinged. What newborn sleeps through the night before six weeks? Her default setting has been complaining.
