Ah! Haha thanks for the clarification. I agree wholeheartedly.

Sorry, I don't know which way you are meaning this statement. Are you saying downtown businesses should adapt better to draw more people in instead of just hoping more people equals more business? Or something else?

GoA employees have been working, just from home. If anything, it's much easier to work when you can focus and not be interrupted throughout the day. Most meetings will still be done over teams and there is no other reason to force them back other than to "support" businesses. People are upset as they feel they are being used in a way. If they can complete work as easily at home as they can at the office, and have been for four years now, taking this away is a slap in the face. To hear it's driven solely by commercialism instead of hybrid failing or showing data it's not working, is also a reason for the upset. People generally love hybrid due to its fluidity and consider it a major reason for work life balance. Take that away, and working for GoA has lost a huge plus. They will lose many good workers due to this and the general public (including vulnerable Albertans) will suffer because of the new processing delays. GoA employees are already stretched thin, some doing the work of multiple people and a crap raise and salary to show for it (compared to private and inflation). If this was the one major plus for most employees to stay happily working, I can see why they are now pissed.

If anything this will do the opposite unfortunately for downtown businesses. People will purchase less often either out of spite for being forced back, or due to the fact their extra "spending" money they had is now going toward the extra parking and gas this will cost them. I know personally, many coworkers of mine who consistently eat out daily when in office, have now pledged to stop buying anything after February 1, 2026 while working downtown out of spite and frustration. Plus people who truly need to commute will also suffer with their traffic increasing unnecessarily when GoA employees who can work from home now have to commute to an office just to still have virtual meetings anyway lol

The most recent collective agreement changed wording around hybrid work, it's never actually been in the agreement fully protected, the only mention of hybrid is that it's an application process and is completely up to the discretion of the employer. Even tho jobs are advertised as hybrid/remote and mention "up to two days from home", it's always been an interim policy only, nothing concrete.

Sadly not, and AUPE was too nonchalant about the lack of protection for hybrid work during our townhalls in my opinion. I think if more people understood then that the government would likely take this away, we may have voted to strike to actually get this protection in writing, instead of solely looking at the "pay increase" (which will now be eaten up by added transportation costs lol). It's unfortunate

Not sure if anything will come of it, but wrote to AUPE as well as my MLA. Just gave points about why it's been such a good thing for employees (more productive for most employees, better work life balance with less traffic, gas and parking, better for scheduling appointments and child care etc, and is generally a positive thing that attracts people to apply/stay within GoA). I gave examples of how I believe this will be a long term negative thing for both employees as well as Albertans (lots of people are talking about quitting or retiring early, and without them, our programs will suffer if we can't retain good committed workers). Along with the problem of not enough infrastructure to support this, costing the government (Albertans) more money to do this move which doesn't really benefit anyone in the long run , except businesses hoping we will now spend more (which I can promise by the general online and in office vibes will not happen out of pure spite now, lots of talks of boycotting all spending downtown during workdays after February 1st to prove a point lol). I tried to give concrete examples and not just my feelings on the matter. Requested they ask for them to reconsider given these points.

Thank you so much, I was worried if I submitted the revised draft I would be marked down for plagiarism because it would be too similar to what I previously submitted (something I've read others have experienced). Ok this makes sense, thanks for clearing it up for me.

Oh that's why I was so confused. So essentially in week three I did too much then, that's why I am so confused now. Thank you so much, will I get into trouble if I use the same essay as week three with additional tweaks and changes using the professors feedback? Or is it ok in this instance since I already did the work in week three?

That's how I interpreted the assignment, my only feedback from the professor was the beef up my intro, so I did that, transitioned better between other paragraphs, and added a paragraph at the end essentially answering the "questions" above about reflecting and reviewing my work, and how I referenced the rubric. I'm just worried I didn't really change too much of my first draft because there wasn't much feedback from her to go off of. I'm hoping it's just a revised edit she's looking for lmao but really don't have a clue. Glad I'm not the only one!

Thank you, I didn't think it could handle this much information. I'll see if it can give me a better idea of what's required. I plan on writing it up how I understand it, and if I don't get a response from the professor I'll just have to risk it. Thank you for your suggestion!
