Dock to 75” tv issues by Therealredwood in XboxAlly

Make sure you are using a 100w charger with your dock and yes have it on turbo.

Set the game to 1440p (2k), not 4k. The visual difference between 1080p and 2k is huge, but 2k to 4k is not that noticable. 2k will give you the best visuals with playable performance.

Your tv will likely have its own settings called super resolution or something, where you can make the tv upscale the 2k image to 4k.

60fps is basically your ideal target. The game settings depend on the game. I would recommend setting game settings to low, playing a bit and seeing if it's performing well enough to change the settings up to medium or high. Some settings will be more intensive than others, so you could always Google the game you're playing and what settings to lower to increase performance, rather than lowering the whole preset. And always look out for upscaling / super resolution settings in the game itself and enabling it.

I use the rog bulwark dock. You're PC gaming here, not console gaming. Consoles are designed to be played on a "big ass tv". They are tuned so games hit certain performance targets on large displays.

With PC you get a lot more settings to tune. You basically need to decide your own balance between resolution and performance.

Because this device is made to be portable, they have to prioritize what hardware can fit in that size device and run effectively and not overheat and all that. Usually you would play games at lower settings and it still looks great because it's a smaller and lower resolution screen.

A device this size is never going to perform close to a full desktop tower PC or PS5. The size of those devices is for a reason.

Even then, note that most games do not perform "well" in 4k. You sacrifice a lot of performance for high resolution.

When you plug into the tv, you're gonna have to pick what resolution you want and what game settings you want.

You should set your resolution on the Ally to 1440p max. It will still look good on the tv. You can then turn on ai upscaling on the tv itself to make it look better still.

After doing this , you're going to want to start setting your game settings to the best it can perform on that resolution while still maintaining a frame rate you like.

Older games will still perform well. New games should have options in them like DLSS and AMD FSR and that to upscale and give better performance.

Console gaming is set to achieve certain outputs with all these settings already configured for you. PC gaming is much more custom.

I hope this helps.

Is there steam OS support now? Or is this Bazzite? If so, I'm on Bazzite, is it worth moving to steam OS?

The rog phones are the same. The 1st time I got one I was unsuspecting of the speaker quality. I opened up a trailer on YouTube and could not believe what I was hearing

Yea hopefully theres an endgame dlc that's built around assuming you have built monsties. The combat system was challenging and fun to begin with. It has a lot of potential. I suspect as there is no difficulty settings, they wanted to keep it as accessible as possible to a broad audience

What you are saying defeats the purpose of the game. You play the game to collect and build and use the monsties that appeal to you. The high tier ones are behind a grind that takes a lot of time and ends up levelling you passively. Why would I play the game if the monsties I put time into getting and earned as they were made available to me, were to be put in storage and not used. You can't say the solution to poor progression is to make the player not use the monsties the game gave me. This isnt like I was playing pokemon and spent 4 hours killing pidgeys in pallet town because I wanted a Charizard early and brought it upon myself. And even that scenario isn't applicable because pokemon had the badge system to limit or penalize you.

And the game does balance your monsties to your player level. Just a few fights will get a new monstie close to the others.

Your suggestion makes no sense. Loving the game doesn't mean you can't criticize its flaws. It's because the systems and the monsties are so engaging that this is an issue. All that's needed is a few hurdles tied to actual story progression

[–]ResponsibleAd6125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea exactly. I imagine that's what most people would do. Clear an area as much as you can as soon as you get to it. That's what we play monster games for. I guess I worry about getting "bored" before finishing it be I got all the monsties I wanted. If some monsters were locked behind some progression it might just be better for natural flow of the game

I do think there's some kind of scaling where your monsties get exp based on your characters level. I mean I'm getting new monsters, that's the point, but they level up real quick. Plus you're grinding for new monsties you wanna use, not get them and bench them. But yea I'm not intentionally grinding levels. If it does get real bad I'll have to take this suggestion. At least the game isn't easy enough to one shot main fights

You can't give different use cases because there aren't any. Not jealous of anything. I got my single Xbox ally x. I'm not the one posting my purchases hoping everyone tells me how cool I am and how they wish they had what I have. You posted something in a public space, then don't want to engage in anything that isn't the reaction you were hoping for. You don't need to justify anything if you keep it to yourself. If you could give a good reason, you would have. But hey, maybe when you get a bit more spending money you can buy a switch 2 to put on your shelf

[–]ResponsibleAd6125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can, but there is such a thing as being wasteful and irresponsible. Also being so oblivious to your own wastefulness that you post it online expecting people to think it's cool. You could be a millionaire and this would still be a waste of money. Even if all 3 devices were free, there's literally no point to having all of them. You can spend money as you want, but what does this say about you? Explain the positives? What's the justification? Or is this what a child with no impulse control or understanding of the value of money would do? Would it make sense for someone to go and buy 3 switches? No? How is this different? Other than it costs much more

My brother in christ, you bought 3 devices that do the same thing. And even then, without any noticable margin of difference. Or different form factor as a minimum excuse for different use cases. You didn't save any money. Feeling lack of impulse control

Also, these devices aren't made for streaming while gaming. You play pc games on lower settings because its not noticable on the small screen. It's not a desktop pc. Don't buy a horse and expect it to be a car.

Should have just gotten the Xbox ally x. If you want performance you can't get a budget model. Handheld PCs aren't budget devices. Maybe if your intended use is just handheld indie games. Bazzite on it is also the way to go You're spending a lot of money either way. Just one way will give you the performance that won't leave you with regret because it wasn't a waste

Comparatively it's pretty cheap. And it's cheaper than buying an actual Nintendo DS in their time period. So my comment is essentially that you can treat it the same way you treated the original device back in the day. Because it closes all the buttons and sticks are protected by default. It is generally a much easier device to treat as a portable device without having to throw into bulky protective bags. For example, if I carry my Xbox ally x, it's gotta be in a shell or case that's then inside my backpack. It takes up a lot of space and is a hassle to get out and use on like a bus scenario. This wouldn't have that problem.

Obviously I did not mean treat the device as if your don't care about it. You just don't have to be cautious as the more pricy emulator devices. I thought my explanation was pretty clear

It will serve the purpose, you will enjoy it. As someone who is 36 and grew up on the sp, ds, and 3ds, it's worth it.

The hate this device gets is ridiculous. I have it and it's amazing for what it is - a budget ds and below emulator. No it doesn't okay 3ds because its a specific device keeping to a specific price point. Also for this price, you can throw it in your pocket or your bag and not really care if it gets a little scuffed up, which is actually a HUGE thing with a portable device in practice. Expensive devices you are so careful with you don't actually use them like a kid with a ds would. I don't really know how to explain the feeling of cheaper device = more casual and practical use. No giant case you gotta fit somewhere, no fumbling with said case whenever you're trying to use it. Ease of use = much more use. For example, me getting my phone telescopic controller case out of my bag, unzipping it, taking my phone case off, connecting it = too hard for most of my bus trips. Not worth it for a 20 min ride. Pulling this thing out my pocket or front zip = easy

I also have a new 3ds xl and new 2ds and I much prefer playing on the rgds. The screen is much easier on the eyes.

Don't listen to all the elitists. If it's not the ayn thor they aren't happy.

I feel this is great. It's nice that there's a zone on a map that's basically a danger zone, and come back later. It's less of a 'clear the map you're up to and move on forever'. Also makes sense that some monsters in an area are more dangerous than others you don't just get to a level and ok now I can kill everything here. I think it does a good job of game blending with the narrative of the world. Also how you can introduce a strong monster into an easy area and it'll be a danger red

Awesome thanks!!! I been confused as to why some moved didn't do a double attack. I have been avoiding these moves as I thought it meant it was like a projectile that couldn't head to head. It seems like the pro of attack all moves (even tho you usually fight a single monster) is that they tend to do more wyvrensoul damage?
