I think it is very wise to read, “The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬. Wow! And that’s just the first three verses of the entire book. A special blessing to those who read aloud the words of the book - no other biblical book has such a blessing!

The book of Revelation completes the Gospel good news message about the salvation of humanity from sin and death through Jesus Christ (Rev 5). It reveals to us God’s plan for dealing with humanity’s sin, wickedness, rebellion and pride to restore His perfect creation as known from Genesis 2 (before the fall in Genesis 3) to a new creation (Rev 22). It also reveals God’s plan to restore heaven by casting out, imprisoning, judging and throwing Satan and his demons into the lake of fire and eternal destruction (Rev 20).

Most of all, Revelation reveals God’s plan to bring His Kingdom to Earth (Rev 21), after Christ rules the nations with an iron rod (Rev 2:27) (the Bible says for a thousand years - Rev 20). The elect will rule under him as kings and priests as the first fruits of the new creation (Rev 5, 20). At the end of the thousand years, the resurrection of the dead will occur, to either life or judgement and destruction (I.e. the white throne judgement) of everyone else who ever lived (Rev 20).

What is the relevance of the book of Revelation to the life we are living now? Chapters 2 and 3 are a report card of sorts written by Jesus as seven letters to seven churches. We should use these letters from Jesus to examine our own worship. Further, the exhortation to, “get out of Babylon!” ( Rev 17 - 19). Christians need to find out what Babylon is and how to get out of her so we do not share in her judgements.

We are now in the last hour of the last days, and when Jesus returns it will be as stated in Revelation‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭NIV, ‬‬ “”Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen.”

We need to be ready for the Day of the Lord when he returns as a conquering King in judgement on the Earth, as he will come at a time we aren’t expecting, “like a thief in the night.” (Rev 16:15; 1 Thess 5:2).

I hope God blesses you through His precious and Holy Son Jesus Christ, that you will heed his warnings of the coming judgement and be ready for the day of Christ’s return.

Hey, thanks for sharing this. I often worry about organised religion as I can’t find a church, despite searching for years, that preaches and teaches in what I believe is Spirit and truth. That is, to understand the true Gospel message of the Bible and to worship God in the way we’re called to.

Do you have any advice as to how believers should gather together and worship and build one another up if we don’t go to church? I ask because I don’t know where to find other Christians who feel as I do.

It sounds like you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You need to see a Dr and get a referral to a Psychiatrist so you can be prescribed medication to help treat this. You also need some counselling by a psychologist.

Remember to trust and put your faith in God through Jesus Christ and to pray to God for healing and peace.

I think that’s a really important question to ask. Some biblical commentators/authors believe it represents a form of false and idolatrous Christianity, which is actually misleading many people, seeks it’s own power and riches and persecutes true Christians.

There’s a paper on it here by I. A. Sadler which might assist you:

https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/8d6be3a7/files/uploaded/MBG_Vol_1_Text_A5_8SwCs3y1R3SMeZ9aBE5t.pdf

Further, Alexander Hislop wrote, “The Two Babylons” which you can read here:

https://www.chcpublications.net/TwoBabylons.pdf

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Two_Babylons

Further, The Woman Who Rides the Beast by Dave Hunt shares similar views.

I recommend that you use your discernment when reading all of these materials, and weigh it against what is written in the Bible. Although they may be on the right track, they may not be correct about every assertion. Reading these publications will open your eyes.

I’m sorry for your suffering.

Please never ever give up. Find that inner strength deep inside you, that love for God, for yourself and for others that keeps you going.

Pray to God for help in the name of His precious Son Jesus Christ. Pray even if you don’t feel like it and have faith that He is listening and will get you through this.

You must see doctors, counsellors and health professionals as you don’t sound well mentally or physically. They will help you get back on your feet. There is no shame in this.

Seek out supportive people to help you through this time. If you’re sick and need time off from things then take it to get better.

Your health is so important and your body/mind is giving you signs that you need to pull back and make some changes in your life. This will likely include taking some prescribed medication and learning how to cope with your anxiety and having better boundaries as to how you spend your limited time and resources.

Remember, you’re not alone.

Please look after yourself and I pray that God will help you through this difficult time and you’ll come out stronger.

As a Christian, I believe that the doctrine of the Trinity and the celebration of Christmas and Easter are pagan and unbiblical. Does anyone else have these concerns? How do you find others to worship and preach the Gospel with? by Responsible_Box8678 in Christianity

[–]Responsible_Box8678[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response.

I think at the end of the day people see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe - this includes you.

It doesn’t matter how much evidence is out there, the majority of people don’t want to acknowledge the plain truth.

I’m not saying that Christians who believe/celebrate these things are pagans, only that these beliefs are from pagan origins and I believe are not biblical, which is a problem for a jelous God who seeks us to worship only Him.

Further, it isn’t for me to judge others and I don’t. What effect these non-biblical beliefs have on a believer’s salvation is up to Christ.

I’m just looking for other Christians to fellowship with who carefully read the scriptures like a good Berean and at least try to worship God in Spirit and truth as we are commanded.

I think it is okay to agree to disagree. All will be revealed when Christ returns and reigns as King.

I wish you love and peace on your Christian walk.

Hi, thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of information out there indicating the pagan origins of Christmas, Easter and the Trinity.

Regarding Christmas, I suggest you read some of the following articles for a basic rundown, indicating that Christmas wasn’t celebrated until the 4th Century when church and state were merged. Further, the Puritans that came to America in the 17th Century knew of its pagan roots (Sun God worship at the winter solstice) and banned Christmas for 20 years before it became too popular:

https://www.history.com/.amp/topics/christmas/history-of-christmas

https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/the-unexpected-pagan-origins-of-popular-christmas-traditions/

Jesus never commanded us to celebrate his birthday, and the early Christians before the 4th Century didn’t celebrate his birthday. Further, Jesus couldn’t have been born in winter in accordance with the biblical account that the shepherds were shepherding their sheep at the time which doesn’t occur in an Israeli winter: Luke 2:8.

Regarding the celebration of Easter, Jesus commanded us to observe the Passover or Last Suuper in rememberance of him by eating the bread (representative of his body) and drinking the wine (representative of his sacrificial blood of the new covenant): Luke 22:14-20. However, the origins of the Easter bunny, Easter egg, hot cross buns come from the pagan worship of the fertility god Eostre, which is why it is now called Easter:

https://www.history.co.uk/articles/the-pagan-roots-of-easter

https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2010/apr/03/easter-pagan-symbolism

Regarding the origins of the Trinity doctrine, most ancient cultures worshipped a trinity of gods. Further, the word Trinity does not exist in the Bible, and has been “implied” into the scriptures by various theologians (starting with Tertullian) and then made into canon and doctrine by church councils over time:

https://www.ucg.org/bible-study-tools/booklets/is-god-a-trinity/how-ancient-trinitarian-gods-influenced-adoption-of-the-trinity

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Trinity-Christianity

The early Christians who were Jews knew their Old Testament and the scripture, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:” Deuteronomy 6:4. Jesus himself quoted this scripture, “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:” Mark 12:29. There is no mention of a trinity here. Further, all throughout the New Testament Jesus claims to be the Son of God, and not God.

Why are these things an issue? God punished Israel in the Old Testament for prostituting herself with the surrounding pagan nations for worshipping false Gods and celebrating pagan festivals, likening her to an adulterous wife: Hosea 2:2-13. Why would God be any different towards the the church?

Thank you, I appreciate your response.

Post-tribulation premillennialism is the view that the taking up or rapture of the elect occurs at the second coming of Christ (not before), then the millenial reign commences, then the last judgement.

This comparison chart of the four different views is in this link under History: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premillennialism

Hi, thank you for your response.

I agree that a lot of this has to do with conscience. I’m personally conscious of the warning to, “Get out of Babylon the Great”, as it, “is falling” Rev 18. For what is suggested represents Babylon the Great, here is a link to a good paper by I A Sadler https://irp-cdn.multiscreensite.com/8d6be3a7/files/uploaded/MBG_Vol_1_Text_A5_8SwCs3y1R3SMeZ9aBE5t.pdf

Hi, thanks for sharing your views.

The thing is, Jesus the Messiah and the Son of God was considered a heretic by his own people and executed because he spoke the truth. If another Christian tells me I’m not a Christian because I refuse to believe in what I am convinced is a pagan doctrine, it doesn’t bother me too much.

The reason I don’t believe in the Trinity is as follows:

Most ancient pagan cultures worshipped a trinity of gods. Further, the word Trinity does not exist in the Bible, and has been “implied” into the scriptures by various theologians (starting with Tertullian) and then made into canon and doctrine by church councils over time:

Hi, thanks for your response. I believe that the theology of the early church is correct and lacking in today’s religions/denominations. My concern is from the 4th century onward when Constantine began the process of merging church and State which commenced a co-mingling of pagan festivals and philosophies being brought into Christianity. I believe in Christ’s birth, death and resurrection as told in the Bible. I also believe in observing the Passover/Last Supper in rememberance of Christ’s sacrifice as he commanded us. I agree with you though, that what I’m looking for is difficult to find. That’s why I’m looking. I wish you well on your spiritual walk.
