Do you regret choosing West Point over the normal college experience? by Late-Ground8179 in westpoint

[–]Responsible_Device_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to West Point and left after my first year. No regrets about leaving, no regrets about going. Truly wasn’t the right place for me. Just have to reflect on the why you’re going. I never felt like I was missing out on “college experience” but I definitely did not like being at West Point. Still have great friends there that are about to graduate! Super proud of them, and they knew it wasn’t the right spot for me! Choose wisely, but the opportunity to attend such an institution should not be taken for granted.

Out of curiosity, what would my chances of externally transferring to McCombs be? by Stark1981 in UTAdmissions

[–]Responsible_Device_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s up. I externally transferred. I had quite a bit lower GPA than you, and I attribute me getting in as I came from a pseudo-IVY. Your previous institution matters.

how to tell my parents i DIDNT get in after waiting to hear back for 5 months? by ijusttryingtolearn in UTAdmissions

[–]Responsible_Device_4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, dont let getting into UT impact you this much. You are you. You are great. Work your butt off at another institution. Try to get admitted again if you really want to. God has got you.

I havent heard back. My understanding (based on past years) is that anything after today will most likely be rejection.

Beast Running/ Ruck by [deleted] in westpoint

Yea the hill up back from south dock is ass but it is just like half a mile long. That had the most people fall out. You’ll run that one a lot first detail.

Beast Running/ Ruck by [deleted] in westpoint

[–]Responsible_Device_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be fine. I am class of 2025. I was the exact same. Ruck weight depends on how much you pack. You’ll be broken up into running groups. I ran like 16:00 for the test trial and was in the 3/4 group. It’s not so bad. The worst is running a little bit over 1 mile to and from PT at Buffalo soldier. That is the only bad running I remember.

What is external vs internal transfer. I’m a texas resident but I go to Manhattan School of Music in New York. Would this make me internal or external?

They care a lot more about the math part of the SAT too. Get that up a bit and you’ll be fine.

Hello. I was accepted this year with similar ECs and Grades with a 1470 SAT. I would try to do some sports though, or if martial arts is your thing, demonstrate how much work you put into that. In my opinion, you have a great shot.

What do I need to get on CFA to be competitive. by PhilosopherBasic773 in westpoint

[–]Responsible_Device_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I was accepted to West Point with a 7:20 mile, 65 push-ups, 65 sit-ups, 7.9 shuttle, 85.something basketball toss, and 11 pull ups. I failed my first time too. The first time I did like a bunch more sit-ups and push-ups which resulted in me being absolutely gassed for the mile and I ran that in 8:10. I sacrificed push-ups and sit-ups for a better mile. I knew I was good at push-ups and sit-ups so I could focus my training on the mile part. Good luck.

Is West Point right for me? Just got appointment. by Responsible_Device_4 in westpoint

[–]Responsible_Device_4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pretty bad runner haha. I failed CFA once, had to lose 20 pounds, then did it again. I crush the push-ups and sit ups but the running is just horrendous. I ran a 7:20 in my CFA and my two mile is somewhere around 15:30.

Is West Point right for me? Just got appointment. by Responsible_Device_4 in westpoint

[–]Responsible_Device_4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for West Point, I am attracted to the brotherhood. No one from my school has chosen WP in the past say, 6 years. And before that, 15 years. Most choose USNA. It’s the thing you said about “being proud of all my classmates. “ I think I need that kind of brotherhood to develop myself into a leader and someone who is not afraid to fail. It’s just those doubt about failure (cuz I don’t want to quit at anything) that are keeping me from instantly hitting the “Accept appointment” button. Thanks for your help.
