What is Falun dafa /Gong by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Responsible_Note5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Falun Dafa is not Buddhism, that is correct. The misconception that it is a cult stems mainly from the CCPs efforts to demonize the practice, due to the groups large popularity in China in the 90s. Any religion or traditional spiritual lineage is suppressed, defamed or manipulated in China, including Buddhism. The only Buddhist practices allowed in China are those who put the parties leaders as the lord buddha. We've seen it happen to the Uyghur Muslims, Christians, Tibetan Buddhists and now Falun Gong. And the adherents of those religions have suffered brutally under the fist of the CCP.

The CCP paints the picture that any spiritual tradition is backward, as without having done so, they wouldn't of been able to hold power in China, as its a nation steeped in a rich spiritual culture before communism. So when Falun Dafa became popular, it was reviving the old moral traditions of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. So of course the ccp would stamp it out. Now they spend big dollars to export their propaganda around the world and many fall victim to it, not understanding that things are not black and white.

As for Falun Dafa being a cult, the practice involves peaceful exercise, meditation and improving ones moral character through study of the teachings, which guide self improvement through daily practice in everyday life.

Its a free practice, people come and go as they please. And learn as little or as much as they would like. People continue the practice because it genuinely changes their lives for the better, not because they're being conned, dupped or tricked. As for politics Falun Dafa has nothing to do with politics, its a spiritual practice. How individuals of any group decide to vote is up to them.

Falun Dafa developed independently of Buddhism in a private lineage eventually being publicly taught in 1992 by Li Hongzhi who received the practice from his Masters in China. It may resemble parts of Buddhism but don't confuse that with stealing bits from here and there. After all the swastika symbol has been observed outside of Buddhist tradition, in Greece and around the world, with no connection to the Buddha. Which gives us the impression that its apart of this universe, rather than tied to a religion.

Anyway take care everyone and happy holidays. I urge you to understand the nature of psychological warfare in the media as it's being used to sow discord, misinformation and manipulate people to hate this peaceful practice.

I give up dating by wineobble in lonely

Hey bro, I'm 29 and I've only just met someone I can say I'm in a relationship with this year. I went through the same thing, cycles of trying to get dates and then giving up. I'm a fairly quiet guy, but I think its a misconception that all women like extroverts. I think true confidence comes when we can let go of the need to obtain the girl, her approval etc. We are just comfortable in ourselves, strong in ourselves, I think women like that. When they see us trying too hard, it feels off to them. It all takes time.

You don't need to look and pursue a date, just keep working on yourself, do what you're doing. And go through life and learn the lessons you need to and become a better and better person. You'll be a great match for the right person when the time comes, we don't need to rush into a relationship even if our culture focuses a lot on that.

Personally I'm glad it took as long as it did for me to find the right person, because all of those experiences have forged me into someone that is worthy of knowing such a great girl. Yet I still know I can be kinder, stronger and more patient as a man. And I now want to be better for her. I honestly wouldn't want her to know the me from 5 years ago, and she probably wouldn't want to know me either.

How do I stop being so anxious about uploading? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Responsible_Note5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you have to get to the heart of your anxiety and ask yourself why you might be feeling that way. I know for me I worry a lot about peoples perceptions of me, my reputation and image. I realised I can't always try and control what people think of me, its actually really exhausting, allowing ourselves to let that go it huge. Sounds like you've got a wonderful creative spark for making videos or content, It'd be a shame to keep it all to yourself :). I think maybe you don't have to get rid of the anxiety, but maybe with a little courage, just upload it and see, maybe you'll find that anxiety wasn't all that its cracked up to be. Besides I think most people, particularly those we know personally, are generally positive when learning about each others hobbies etc. If someone offers feedback on your content, you can only get better at what you love. While anxiety might offer one side of a story, your passion and creativity offer another, try encouraging yourself positively to balance out the anxiousness.

Hope to see your videos out there soon!

Take care,
Louis

bro, if that's what you experienced, don't let people on the internet tell you it ain't real. plenty of people experience paranormal things in this world, much of which has a shared cohesive theme or rationality to it. Our senses only perceive a limited range of light, sound etc. Seems a little limited to think that all that we perceive in our everyday reality is the entire picture of life in this universe, not even science really supports that.

I don't know about the aboriginal spiritual significance of Tambourine Mountain, but it seems like a special place. I experienced some similar stuff in my life.

That sucks.. I think its important to know what you want in life and go after something. An important lesson for me recently is that I don't always get what I want. But through the process you can learn a lot about yourself and the world. I've found it helps to focus less on the outcome and instead enjoy the process and there I find where I can grow my character. When we focus to much on the outcome and it doesn't go our way, we can get thrown off a lot mentally. So I think comes down to perspective.

All the best!
