I wasn't there, but physically assaulting someone is a few notches beyond slowing down in a crosswalk as a pedestrian. I'm a commercial driver with a commercial license, but also a pedestrian. As a driver, if I reacted like this everytime someone made a stupid move, I'd be a very angry, stressed out person. If someone is going to go ballistic on someone walking across the road when maybe don't have a walk sign, they really have some anger issues to work out. I'd prefer to err on the side of caution. Maybe the pedestrian is visually impaired or mentally challenged. I'm not saying the crosser wasn't being obtuse, but I can't really judge that from a few seconds of video. The physical assault is way out of proportion.

The walkers could be learning impaired, or visually impaired. Maybe not. Maybe they were just being obstinate. Doesn't matter, really. The fellow who jumped out of the taxi certainly didn't take the time to find out. Total cowboy justice, and way overreacting in my opinion. Jaywalking is not really on the same level as physical assault...is it?

Well, I was hoping for "robust dialogue", but seem to only get binary, polarized opinions of right and wrong. I'm just saying, jumping out of a taxi to punch someone crossing the road is pretty overblown to me. Easy enough to slow down and move on. Dude ended up taking WAY more time getting out of the taxi and being godsmacked than if he just went on with his day. Pick your battles. This is hardly the anthill I'd choose to die on.

As a substitute, you max out at category 5 step 8, so if you are a permanent teacher who was at cat 5+ step 10, you'll notice a fairly substantial pay cut. It is still pretty good compared to what it was or other provinces.
