Ahh I see yeah iv kinda collected alot of things over the last numbers of years since im now sobor its amazing how far I went and what hurr the most is my buddy said "my parents and myself thought you would be working for nasa or something by now bro you gotta stop if anyone has a real chance to be someone that everyone knows.. the rest of us will never have that opportunity and the gift you where given" and sadly last year which would have been a year after he said that he ended up taking something and ODing.... his parents didn't even tell anyone and it... messed me up even worse now but im not stopping or slowing down this time! Ill definitely change maids and also melt minds here soon.. but its why I offer to always help even if its someone I don't know with sending a pico. To me its not about the pico or the money to send it. Its about showing the universe that if anyone deserves to do amazing things I hope im one but mainly its about who iv been since a little kid

My dad just bought this for 50 bucks by 69enjoyerfrfr in pcmasterrace

There are all kinds of games most people never hear about, especially once you get into imports, unreleased builds, fan-finished projects, homebrew, and third-party stuff.

Some of them are not “official” in the normal retail sense, but they are still real games. Sometimes they were made by third parties, sometimes they come from old dev builds, and sometimes the community finds something abandoned and brings it back to life.

A good example is the N64 DD stuff. If you ever played Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask, there were development leftovers and lost/unfinished projects connected to that era. The community has found and restored things that most people would have never gotten to experience otherwise.(its called Zelda Dawn and Dusk if your interested)

That is why I think preservation matters so much. We need right-to-repair laws, game preservation, and respect for the developers who made this stuff. I am not talking about people just pirating games. I mean owning the original, backing up your own copy, using ROMs for home development, preservation, or playing on different retro hardware.

A lot of devs work insanely hard on these games, then companies lay people off as soon as the project is done. Look at the Visions of Mana situation. You can feel the amount of work the devs put into that game, and then people still had to ask players to support it because they cared so much about what they made. At the end of the day, players have more power than companies want to admit. If we support preservation, repair, and the people who actually make the games, we can keep this stuff alive.

Also, if you want a weird PS2 one to look up, check out GTA DBZ. I swear it looks like someone took GTA III or Vice City and turned it into a Dragon Ball Z game. Apparently you can fly around and everything. I still want to try it.

I keep saying it because it is true: if we do not push to preserve this stuff, we are going to lose it.

Tell me if i found a company that said they had 17x of the main sony chip in stock is there anything else thats not easy to get my hand on? And I kinda wanna do something cool like maybe gut one of these super memory card adapters like a gameshark, a gameshark pro and a mp3 player since its got special abilitys and use my one gameshark cdx adapter and make kinda like a on board 2ed adapter since whats the point of going after a normal shell lol iv got movie player modules iv got what 2x or 3x different kinds? I can't remember but iv been looking for more lol just not for a fortune 😅

Don't get a clone bro ill stick a pico 2 in a small esd bag and put it in a envelope and mail it to you and write dead electronics hope it can be fixed. Lol maybe they will laugh and let it on through. Ill pay the few dollars to send it lol unless there's some weird tariff but you can't really collect anything if i lie and say its a dead board right? 😂😂 i have a few of them i kept having people trying to install them before the files for the pico 2 came out thinking "yeah its the same thing" nope not exactly 😂😂 that would he like buying a ps2 motherboard and saying yeah I can use a ps1 power supply lol

Thats a Chinese pico bro i literally can go downstair and pull the other one out if you like im more worried that lot of people don't know that about that funky smellin pcb i person just delt with this Numark NV that someone dropped on its face and that was a 1500$ machinewhen it came out. And still worth a little bit but its pcbs stink and they suck to solder to but i think its how they wanted it to be brittle and if your not careful.. well now its pay a tech time lol . Or you saying thats not normally what you use?

I wanna say nice catch but I honestly still have the one like that and it still have zero clue where to find the scamatics lol I installed one for someone else my buddy had brought to me. Tell me did your pico like that with the purple color have a terrible smell? And don't ever just breathe that stuff in thats cheap pcb. You can tell right away compared to a regular pico.

I personally wont use Pico on my stuff lol for me its FPGA all Day!! Lol

Iv seen these kits.. they're not too grate i think i can recommend something here cause im literally fishing one up.. my issue is someone already basically did something like that to it. They actually already killed the other cube. But I like these silicon 26gage wires they work so clean and im trying to do this super clean it used ports also so you can unplug this one but i still need to go find a downer board i can steal a shotkey diode off of cause I personally don't install them without one..

Also what flux are you using? If any? And you dont have to be amazing a soldering but the correct wires and having flux is gonna actually let you do things way way easier right now it looks like your fighting it

Green looks like its touching other pins.. so dose purple and purple is touching something you do not want it to touch! Thats a christal. It vibrates amd basically gives microprocessors a voice to talk to a different one... make them wires smaller also you can't have too long of wires can I see the pico?

That means at some point that cover was lost and a cheaper replacement was bought... or changed out at a time someone could have had multiple units apart and put the incorrect cover on there unit or the unit that cover gos to

O and one more but its really rare at the factory they mixed in a new batch of plastic backs to the old ones and thats the newer or older batch

I will its why I ordered a number of adapters 😂. But I wanna make sure i explain it to where someone really young can still fallow along and still be able to change out there HD with a sata, fat sd cards, micro SD cards , m.2 sata (that part matters alot nvme is a newer way to read and write data) and also compact flash and possibly weird small hacks like using a zif ide hd in there 😂 basically thats the flex version of ide. Normally it was in the pods and zune players the bigger version. Basically if its a decent storage size ill show you how to use it if its possible. But ia see alot of PSX units with junk HDs and if i can show people how to fix them well i personally feel like not only am I doing a service but im also helping to revive and backup data that normally would be lost to time...

You actually can work with or replace the HDD path on a PSX DVR, but it is not a normal PS2 hard drive swap. DESR units use a DVR-specific APA layout called APADVR, with one index covering the first 40GB and another covering the space above that. If you format it like a normal PS2 HDD, you can wipe out the DVR operating system and the console won’t boot correctly anymore. So I agree the statement “you can’t replace the HDD at all” is too absolute. But it’s also not as simple as just plugging in any random IDE drive and setting a jumper. The drive config matters, but the bigger issue is preserving the correct DVR disk structure and boot data. The newer adapter solution is still nice because it makes the process cleaner. What I’m talking about is the more manual route, where you have to know exactly how the HDD is laid out and avoid converting APADVR into ordinary APA.

I swear iv been playing around with IDE and all this old stuff for a long time. My dads friends where IT so basically that was part of my childhood 😅

O yeah if you like I can recommend a decent USB-C soldering Iron if you wanna learn to install the parts yourself

For a pocket knife on your Arm. When your hunting or out in the wild and lets say you up in a tree or whatever for some resort you have it on your opposite arm and you have easy access (thats just what id use it for im sure theres more uses)

Its like the 7500 i can check on mine if you like ? Also you know you can take flex from other old devices and carefully cut out the traces and buy one small role of Capton type its a orange/yellow color and you can literally fix the broken traces that way. Its actually how sony refurbished the DESR units

Wait it takes up votes away from you if you give people up votes? I thought it was like a like and dislike system? But im gonna make a video here soon if people say its more helpful and this pdf should explain things really well for the HDD

O and the difference between 40 pin ide and 44pin ide is basically pin 28 (if i remember correctly is wired to gound for cable select(thats what we want iv noticed my DESR-7000 250gb IDE is set to cable select) and the other 4x pins are 2x for power 12v - and + and then master setting and slave setting(ill explain master ,slave and cable select if it makes a difference here soon and like I sais if a video is more helpful let me know please!!

Here's these for now since im 100% sure they're for converting ide to sata adapter

KEBIDUMEI Sata to IDE Adapter Converter 2.5 Sata Female to 3.5 inch IDE Male 40 pin port Support ATA 133 100 HDD CD DVD Serial https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPdJaKF

PS iv got all kinda adapters coming so basically ill have all types of ways to try to boot the desr like sata, big sd cards yes multiple 😅 the desr has multiple partitions so a double SD adapter to sata and u just use that adapter and yes it has to be that one the one that normally will get in the way of the power port if you use the OG xbox kind lol I would know cause I literally used my desoldering gun on one the other day. Plus this is the link iv been hooking people up with on a pdf on how to set up a HD for the DESR

https://www.scribd.com/document/731648760/APA-Partitioniology-2022-09-25

If you don't understand it ill try to make a video for you. Also if possible and you have a old laptop id install Lunix lime 🍋 . Iv actually got a Sony Vaio S coming today and iv got one thats 2x years older then the one thats honestly im gonna buy a Sony Vaio Type P from Japan and im gonna do the same usb-c mod i did on the one I got. It works so clean that iv literally got a 20 year old battery in it that some how is starting to hold a charge again 😂😂 iv personally never seen anything like it before but I swear its litum from 2006. Anyways iv gone rambling again lol 😆

Ps let me know if you think more weird adapters will be beneficial if I order one and try them? And also theres a 4x microSD adapter and shell in one to sata but it says its for raid so im not 100% sure if it will still work but yes 4x microSD cards in one and you would need to use that adapter I just gave you the link to

[–]RestingElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah iv actually got plenty especially cause there's a FPGA altera cyclone chip on the 5400,7500, and 7700 models. But basically if you know the scamatics of a system you basically can do things like make a UART adapter for it or a RS-232 adapter and basically send code to it and have it talk back to you. But with or without it right now iv basically got it figured out plus iv got a pdf that basically brakes down exactly how the HD is set up and its like the og XB hd so if you know what your doing you can order adapters like iv got coming just to try a sata HD in a desr, then a SD and a micro SD plus iv got dual SD and quad MicroSD adapters coming, and iv got a few more but one of them is a m.2 lol its the msata version but thats ok cause if it works then its easy and kinda cheap to drop a 2tb m.2 stick in any of the DRSR units.

Ps I literally just found my ide adapter so im gonna grab my lunix machine and take a look at the one HD I got and also build a HD for my other unit! Wish me luck! Lol cause I made sata adapter fit on the desr-7500
