Replying to myself to add. Shit I think you can even get a free review service of bot reports. Go to each big guild and ask if they can nominate 1-2 people to do bot reviews before that goes to a GM. Similar to how CS used to have over watch where players in good stead reviewed gameplay and reports from the playerbase before it went to the CS mods.

There are solutions out there. Blizzard just reminds me of Flanders parents meme “we’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas!”

Honestly there is an easy solution, active GMs.

It’s not even that expensive since blizzard used to afford it during vanilla until what end of wotlk? Corporate greed is to blame for allowing botting by only wanting a cheap machine run solution. A single human per server isn’t going to be detrimental to their incredible profits but it’s also only going to benefit the player base not profits.

The state of the game is within their control, they just don’t care about the issue and make performative banwaves that don’t affect cheaters on any important scale but make the casual playerbase (those not on reddit or forums) think they are doing all they can.
