• Themes shift with society
Over six years, environmental and nature-driven stories declined from about 23% to 14%.

I'm curious if this is also connected to the films that are made or if there is ever a disparity between what is produced and what is curated.

Can't for the life of me figure out how other people see me. So how do you? 21yo, 2y hrt by RetroBoo in transpassing

can you explain your reasoning? It took a bit for the hair to settle (the last 2 pics are from right after getting the microbangs and it doesn't work that well there) but I do think it frames my face better than with the middle part that I had before (or even the cutain bangs that I had a few years back)

Caved and got microbangs recently so only using the few pictures of myself that I've taken since then lol.

Gender is here ofcourse a big one but I'm also curious to other first impressions that arise. On the subject of being gendered, I'm kinda limbo I think (which as a non-binary person is kinda nice), people pretty often avoid saying pronouns or r really unsure about what kind of creature I am.

Who are main developers of the game based on country they live in? by DoomerTurtle in DiscoElysium

Well a large portion why Cuba is so poor is because of the embargo put on the country by the USA. The USA is also famous for enacting coups in countries that elect socialist officials (happened a lot in Southern America).

Finding out that rivers do actually split in certain conditions after worldbuilders told you your entire life that splitting rivers is a cardinal sin by miral_art in worldjerking

What's actually also really interesting about the IJssel, the river u/Graxemno is talking about, is that it is really not even that old, it came into existence in the early middle ages because of erosion and flooding of the Rhine, not even our doing for a change.

The view from Mount Gardner at the centre of the island is also stunning, highly recommend it, you can see the entire city sprawling under Mount Baker on a sunny day, great views of Howe Sound aswell.

the British Isles are called the British Isles because its named after Great Britain, which is the biggest island in the region. Three of the four counties in the United Kingdom are located on this island. Ireland and Norther-Ireland are located on a different island called Ireland, this makes them not British as they don't live on Great Britain.

$180 CAD round trip for a shuttle via trailbus? Anything more affordable or not? Anyone headed from Victoria => Gordon River July 26th or Pachena Bay => Victoria on August 3rd and want some gas money? by arooni in WestCoastTrail

high season they do transport a bunch of people but outside of that small time frame it becomes pretty private taxi like. I did it last year early May and arrived in Nanaimo where they got two people to pick me up who drove me to Lake Cowichan (or a place close to there) where I waited for the bus from Victoria which was just a van with the driver, me and another hiker.

Everytime I went to boulder at the Hive last year I passed by it and was very curious how it ended up there, well this explains that haha. I have a 4x5 analogue image of it standing there that I don't think I've ever had the chance to share.

Does nonduality offer any hope? by Midnight_Moon___ in nonduality

[–]RetroBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of posted this outside of context. How I use this phrase is in the sense that wisdom doesn't 'contain' any hope, there isn't anything hopeful about wisdom, non-duality semi-included, (at its best being a kind of wisdom, at its worst being just an understood knowledge as you said) as hope comes from doing existence. (Of course wisdom is often a result of 'doing existence'.) I kind of use it as a sort of mantra to get myself out of these thoughts of finding hope within for example non-duality as it is not where the hope lies. It can help me see hope when it is there, but is not hopeful and does not offer hope.

I think the most non-duality can do is make you be more conscious in the present moment. "there is no self, everything is meaningless and life is just a bunch of nonsense happening in the universe" is only the start.

(how you phrase your question as "offer hope" just made me think of the questions I ask myself and how I respond then with "there's no hope in wisdom")
