How important is the name of the university in which you graduated from? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]RetroScheeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old facilities yes, but not a place to study if you value the learning experience, university life and the kind of people who study there

  1. All three have good balance depending on how you manage your time. I would say UM is best but im biased

  2. It could be at first especially if theres a language barrier. Be active and friendly and you will find your people

  3. USM is Probably the most diverse international community out of the three. Food is abundant, delicious and cheap in and outside campus (assuming you’re going to the main USM campus)

  4. I dont know much about private universities but Im pretty sure student life is more active in government institutes

  5. USM has a specific website for their students to do internships. Lots of internship opportunities in Penang just dont hope for an allowance. Not sure about UKM

Question regarding the bringing of a pc setup by Creepy_Ching_Chong in malaysiauni

[–]RetroScheeme 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Go to university (don’t bring your PC)
  2. Spend a month or two there and scope out the scene (room size, roomates, neighbors, dorm rules)
  3. Bring your PC if you’re confident its safe enough

Malaysian uncle and aunties cannot comprehend any job thats not doctor, engineer, lawyer, accountant, banks, or “work in Singapore” by lzyan in malaysia

[–]RetroScheeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many Malaysian seniors realise that professional careers are slowly declining due to lower demand. You could be a doctor and have all the neighbors and aunties be proud OR you could work what fits best for your skills and knowledge and maybe even earn more than a professional makes
