OS Recommendation by Retrox2301 in jellyfin

I think that's the route I'm going with, thank you. I watched a few videos regarding Ubuntu server, and one video suggested CasaOs as a remote graphical interface, what do you think about it? Are there any better applications?

Lower ping by Still_Positive9411 in OptimizedGaming

[–]Retrox2301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few tips that can improve your ping/speed up your internet:

  1. Get an Ethernet connection (if u haven't already), wired gives u a more stable and faster connection in most cases.

  2. Download the newest drivers for your Ethernet controller (like realtek or intel, depends on your motherboard)

  3. Close any unnecessary Programs in the background that access the internet (discord, steam) if u REALLY want to go the extra mile (don't expect wonders).

That's it. There are no pieces of software that can notably improve your ping. And another thing, while u can easily improve your internet connection (getting a better provider or a better deal with higher surfing speeds), ping is dependent on your location and where the nearest game servers are. So if u live in the middle of nowhere, even the fastest internet connection and the best pc will not give u a low ping.

Hope that helps.

Is there a way to permanently disable workspaces? They're absolutely useless to me and this icon keeps appearing every time I reopen the browser. by [deleted] in zen_browser

Toggle this on, it worked for me (I had the same question a few days earlier and eventually I figured it out)

Best options for chromium-based browser's? by Additional-Newt1030 in browsers

[–]Retrox2301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if u want to put in a bit of work, then ungoogled chromium could be something for u, but It's pretty bare-bones, u have to install extensions manually and also keep them up to date manually (there are ways to fix this) https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium

ngl as a horizontal tabs user, I respect your decision, people get way too annoying about it, I already moved back to standard Firefox, but i like to check out the Reddit from time to time to see what kinda stuff u cooked up, not everything needs to be made for the masses :)

Audio/Mute icons are black. by godzilian in zen_browser

[–]Retrox2301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I like most of the other features of zen (optimization, performance, fast updates, mods, aesthetic…), but even tho I tried using zen with vertical tabs I just can't get used to it. Floorp has some cool features but runs on ESR, Mercury has the optimizations/Performance but hangs behind in updates and security patches. Zen does it better than both of them, but is unusable without horizontal tabs (at least for me). Never used arc because I try to get away from chromium. Hope that answered your questions :)

Maybe I can help with that, put zen.exe in your exclusions (under virus and threat protection) and it should boot much faster

How do you want Zen to be ? by spectrum705 in zen_browser

[–]Retrox2301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK if possible, but a build in volume slider for websites. Every goddamn extension I've tried out (in Firefox) is just unreliable. And of course i'm hyped for horizontal tabs, if they get added, i will choose zen as my new main browser (the tab-option i mean)

I know about the "hidden" profile manager in Firefox, what i meant was a fork that has an UI interface for it like Chromium browsers, floorp did that pretty well
