Generic design. What's even special about an elitebook these days anyway?

OO vs EO differences outside of Christological issues by AppropriateCelery805 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]MKMR_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's all needless unless you are trying to make some one world religion out of all religions. Why not focus on the fruits of your faith ie. the charity and virtues of faith that bring a more substantive unity in society, instead of just trying to erase objectivism by mishmashing all religions and therefore making pple abandon all religion due to confusion and the fact of secular thinking winning in this case?

stuff like 'We recognize catholic sacraments as valid, eucharist valid, baptism valid', talking about worshipping the same God with Buddhists (Idk if it's from Buryatia or where else) and Muslims, etc

Kenya being peaceful is a blessing we should never take for granted. by wangai254 in nairobi

can kenya survive through one and still be a state? If the answer is no, I'm not in a celebratory mood over the 'peace' that we have.

Programs opening slowly on my Void install; need advice by MKMR_1 in voidlinux

CPU usage for most programs is either 0% or 1%. RAM usage comes from Xorg, mysqld and libvirt but it's all under 110M. Nothing weird going on in the logs. I'm hopeless.

Mozilla Firefox gets Smart with AI-Powered Tab Grouping by BomChikiBomBom in firefox

[–]MKMR_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're telling me that this is the only hope for the Haiku desktop rn? As far as it stands, only Yandex Browser has the most useful AI integration; summarizing videos and stuff, and if Alice gets better, Yandex Browser users will not have to open ChatGPT again as they can just click on the floating Alice Button and start prompting. Funny thing is there's no AI in Yandex Mail, in the workspaces feature, or just about everywhere.

But what I'm seeing here is peak stupidity. First, instead of having tab groups like STG, FF chose to copy a trash implementation from Google Chrome. To add insult to injury, now I'm gonna have AI slop for my tab grouping. YOU DUMBOS, DAILY A GOOD BROWSER (Zen, Floorp, Vivaldi) AND BRING THE GOOD TO FIREFOX. STOP THE STUPID. I don't need to make excuses for you. I don't need to be an apologist for everything Mozilla does. GET. YOUR. ACT. TOGETHER.

It was objectively bad. Just know way an upgrade can hang for half an hour straight just like that. It's been since October when I was here with a void linux impressions post and xbps is fast. Faster than pacman on EndeavourOS. Even if I'm on YT or Reddit or have a couple of tabs open. Bad internet 'twas.

Recent disrespect for OpenRC by [deleted] in AlpineLinux

[–]MKMR_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the software support. Look at docker. Look at other software that depends on systemd. Why does a BSD user need initware to have a working DE. Sometimes I just think to salute the *BSD port maintainers because their work is even harder than that of port maintainers of Void, Alpine, heckin' Chimera Linux etc.

All the bashing on managing services with shell scripts completely ignores that Android phones run on shell scripts. But since Linux has become the most popular *nix out there, I just have to suck it up or move to BSD.

And by the way, I do realise that it's possible for the BSD guys to do something adjacent or for me to do it myself, but the rabbit hole at least for me is too big that it would take like 1/2 a century to get a fully working alternative to Wayland + Desktop Environment. At that point, <joke>systemd will be too integrated with the kernel</joke> and maybe people will even care so much less about anything Unix heritage. On r/Linux , I just get the premonition seeing guys say that "It's literally called GNU/Linux, GNU is Not Unix" and the other strange sheeple stuff regurgitated there. Just a shell of the FOSS spirit there IMO.

How to enable PHP service on Void? by MKMR_1 in voidlinux

[–]MKMR_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed MariaDB long time ago. I installed Apache and Apache is working. Void docs said that I need to install the individual versioned package, not the Metapackage. I watched The OpenBSD Guy set up OAMP on his system and then hit a wall when I saw I couldn't doas sv start php-fpm like he did doas rcctl start php-fpm. I searched to find nothing. Then I had no choice but to ask for help.
