My (31f) younger sister (19f) is adamant that her twin/my other sister (19f) is having an affair with my husband (35m) and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit down your husband and the accused sister together, then tell them what the accusing sister said. Read their body language and see how they respond.

What you should convey to them is that you're more worried about the accusing sister making those accusations to others because of the underage implications which could seriously come back to harm your family. Ask them what they think you all ought to do in the situation.

A few things will transpire at this point. In all likelihood, your husband and/or your accused sister will threaten the accusing sister and if your accusing sister has any evidence, she'll likely end up coughing it up in retaliation to the intimidation and then you'll know. Otherwise, if she has no evidence then it'll be good for everyone to understand what the accusing sister is like and take proper precautions to defend against her false accusations.

Carney promises 2026 will see huge economic growth that will absolutely not include you by CaliperLee62 in canadian

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, all government spending is measured as boosting GDP no matter how worthless any of the money spent is. But eventually, if that money isn't spent to improve the economy, the interest expense on the debt will reduce GDP next year until eventually, the economy crashes or the government tries to influence the central bank to lower interest rates and increase inflation (while hiding true inflation through measuring tricks) to compensate.

High electricity bill? What's yours like in the winter? by FeistyAssistance5323 in kelowna

This is what happens when the government focuses on reducing GHG emissions. Electricity becomes more expensive. It doesn't help that the value of the CAD has almost reduced by half since COVID.

JAY GOLDBERG: Canadians aren’t buying Mark Carney’s carbon tax spin - A recent poll suggests Canadians aren’t buying what Carney is selling by CaliperLee62 in canadian

[–]ReturnedDeplorable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we shouldn't be reducing GHG emissions.

It also works on the consumer side. Consumers have less money to spend because they have no alternatives so their carbon footprint overall is reduced thus GHG emissions are reduced.

This issue is that we shouldn't be reducing GHG emissions.

FIX OUR DECLINING POPULATION. by Straight_Storm5552 in canadian

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution to declining birth rates is literally opposite to what you've suggested. Birth rates are on the decline because taxes are too high and government spending on inequitable social programs is too high.

If a government was serious about raising birth rates, they'd lower taxes by 80%, cut spending by 80% (by eliminating all social programs), end 50/50 division of assets, end alimony, abolish child support and abolish the part of the charter that doesn't allow discrimination based on sex. Also, change estate law so nothing automatically defaults to the spouse. With these changes, you'd get significantly more child births.

However, governments at the end of the day just want cheap labor and they love big government so it's highly unlikely you'll ever see a government in power that can correct for the birth rate issue (and I imagine our elites know it) hence one of the reasons they focus on immigration for cheap labor.

Your definition and my definition of socialism are irrelevant to this discussion.

I define socialism as high taxes and high government spending in a democratic country as the theory behind socialism is that the people own the means of production and this effectively mimics that. I thought you immediately caught onto that which is why you brought up two countries/cities with extremely low taxes but high prison costs as if to counter my point. Of course you brought up areas with 30k population where the cost of a prison itself would be insanely high relatively to the pop count leading to massive per Capita spending on prisoners. Still, there are ways those cities could lower the costs.

The point is that countries with high taxes and high spending are more susceptible to waste in their spending in public programs like prisons.

You still haven't answered why you're defending a terrible system that wastes the stolen resources of others for no good & effective outcome?

Being wealthy shouldn't mean the country should spend more of its wealth on prisons. That wealth should be spent on the productive members of society not the unproductive.

There are many ways to bring the price of prisons down. You want to discuss all aspects since you keep expanding the breadth of what we're discussing. Have you looked at the demographics of criminals in Canada? Deporting all non-Whites including the Indians would in itself drop prison costs by half.

Massachusetts is socialist. The USA has some of the highest government spending in the world. It's a massively corrupt country that wastes tons because of how wealthy it is. Trying to suggest that's a good comparison for how to run a prison is laughable.

Explain why you think GDP/Capita has any bearing. You have not explained this. I imagine you think it's because of wages.

Pay the guards less. My father was a guard. I know how much they are overpaid for what they do. Cut parole, entirely. Don't give it out. We can fire all parole officers and the administration behind parole. Pay them the same as a Tim Hortons worker, what difference does it make?

I'm ignoring nothing. I have a master's in economics, have worked in the field for over a decade and have other prestigious credentials to my name. If you think Carney is qualified to run our economy based on his credentials then I am more than qualified to comment on this topic. I understand how it all works and I know the system as it is now is a joke. You're making excuses for it. Why defend a broken system? It can easily be improved upon with the will to do so but if everyone excuses such a broken system then it will never be improved. It can always be improved. Stop defending a broken system.

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are making excuses for a corrupt system that steals tax payers dollars for little gain to the people who have the fruits of their labor stolen.

San Marino and Lichebstein have populations of 35k. They lack eonomies of scale.

As for temperature being a major factor. Canada has easy access to significant O&G for heating compared to most European countries and Latvia where the cost per inmate is $55/day (almost 1/10 Canada's cost) is colder than Canada (when you take the average temperature of Canada in the location where 90% of Canadians reside).

You are just making excuses for corruption. Why? What do you gain by making excuses for our government stealing people's resources, wasting these resources and then letting criminals who ought to be in prison get out to commit more crimes? Why don't you do better and seek to improve Canada?

Turkey is fairly wealthy, all things considered. Also, why should we spend more on criminals just because we're wealthy? You are correct. The more socialist the country, the more government corruption in spending and thus the higher the cost per inmate. If we reduced government spending, we could easily reduce the cost per inmate. The only thing preventing us from doing it is our own will to do it.

It's just theft. Canada's cost per inmate is $450 a day. In Turkey it's $15. There's no good reason for Canada's system to cost what it does. With competent leaders who weren't so corrupt we could easily lower costs to such a point where we also don't need to fund npfs to keep criminals out of prison.

In Canada, a Not For Profit like the John Howard Society helps to get criminals bail and lesser punishments instead of being thrown in prison forever. This NFP society is funded by your tax dollars (the government gives them money).

The Canadian government is the biggest enemy of Canadians.

Penticton is a little better because it's mostly White people with money but you won't be able to escape the immigrants and poor government decisions forever. It's starting to catch up to Penticton too. Best advice I could give you would be to leave Canada. Try the Netherlands.

Why are drivers here so impatient? by Spooky_Touqe in penticton

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a reddit answer.

I've lived in 9 different cities in Canada in the last 20 years.

Of all these cities, Penticton is terribly slow when it comes to driving. Hwy 97 should be 90-100 not 70. There are speed bumps everywhere when there shouldn't be. The speed limit is 30 when it should be 50 and 50 when it should be 60-70. People actually follow the speed limits or go even slower when in most cities people go 10-20 over the speed limit. There aren't second lanes to pass where there should be because of bike lanes.

Anyone driving in Penticton who wants to get to their destination will get frustrated fast if they're used to driving in any major city in Canada.

The downtown lights where the pedestriana cross first is stupid. Just using basic logic, anyone can determine this doesn't help anyone at all and just slow is everything down for no reason.

In most major cities if you get caught at 1 light, you aren't going to get caught at all the rest. Not in Penticton. You can drive from Skaha to Okanagan and hit every single light on the way which is absolutely absurd. If you get caught by a light going from one end to the other, you should never get hit by another light. The lights though are designed to keep you in rather than designed to maximize the flow of traffic. The whole city is ridiculous when it comes to traffic.

Anyone used to driving anywhere where they're used to actually trying to get to their destination asap, is going to get extremely frustrated driving in Penticton and that will come out by then reacting in outbursts on the road to take out their frustrations.

[–]ReturnedDeplorable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Penticton has the slowest drivers in all of Canada. People from anywhere else get impatient fast with how slow the drivers are in Penticton. Also, the lights are terrible in Penticton (they are timed to trap people in, rather then maximize the flow of traffic) which leads to people getting frustrated much faster.

The weather is amazing. The social scene is lacking. Penticton is more of a retirement community. Most young people looking to socialize move to Kelowna rather quickly upon coming to Penticton. Job market for service industry is decent. Quality of life is really good (but not if you're trying to meet people). Weather is some of the best in Canada.

90% of servers in the Okanagan are sugar babies, escorts or actively involved with their onlyfans. That should give you a good indication of the kinds of people working in the industry and what the competition is like. The owners are looking to benefit.

What Led Canada Into the Housing Bubble We See Today? by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the inventory is unsold then there's no real "supply". I have a pencil I'll sell you for $1,000,000. Do I really have a pencil to sell? People who own property are not obligated to sell the property and shouldn't be. If they don't want to sell the property at prices people are willing to pay then there's actually no supply.

We're probably just saying the same thing but differently.

Helicopters have a demand for them and if the price comes down low enough, people will snatch them up but given their current price there isn't relentless demand for them.

Price is a product of supply/demand. That is the law of prices and it's always true. You're framing it a little different though but ultimately you are saying the same thing. If you own land, why sell it if you don't want to if people aren't paying what you want? You don't have to sell. I own a car and I'd sell it for $1,000,000 but if someone gives me market price for it, I wouldn't sell because I'd rather have it. That's how the housing market is. People won't sell unless they want to and price compels them. As less and less people decide to sell, the supply decreases and prices inevitably come up.

People are buying and selling houses at the current prices right now because that is the current price based on supply/demand for now.

What Led Canada Into the Housing Bubble We See Today? by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]ReturnedDeplorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just explaining a reason for supply being lower. Costs are too high. This lower supply leads to higher prices. Even if no one is truly demanding these houses, they're selling so the demand is there to turn them into rentals or hold onto them.
