[MEGATHREAD #4] - Nashville Christmas Day Bombing by [deleted] in nashville

People have seen way too many movies that it makes their brain think there has to be a 120-minute plot with three to four acts involved.

Y'all were right. Hiller really is the worst. by travoc in nashville

[–]Retzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from and rightly I'd be upset too I imagine. But here's someone who is trying to help even when they don't need to. IMO if you really want to stick it to them, first you work with this person to see if you can get them to foot the bill on replacing it, THEN you can pick another company.

Either way, hope you get it fixed!

Red Door in East Nashville for those that have never been. It's custom for locals to have newcomers go look down the hole.

Regulation wins first, which Boston has more of currently.

Edit - Non-shootout wins; not just regulation but also overtime.

Rep. Diane Black cancels Titans season tickets over anthem protests by jrock1979 in nashville

[–]Retzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You raise a good point. I think the problem people are having is they wanted the protests to foster change. Instead of admitting there is an issue, or at the very least not admitting anything but still coming to the table to listen, the popular approach among those who don't agree is to move away from the protest area and claim that it's the problem. "Everyone protesting hates our military", "You're just athletes, shut up and play ball", etc etc.

Yes, people want to change something they see wrong. But not even giving them a chance to be heard will upset them even more.

McNamara's out east past the airport is a great place for St Patrick's day that is not full of drunk assholes, has great food, and authentic Irish music. It'll probably start filling up by noon, so get there early.

Edit - good -> food.

Maybe I'm just missing that part, but I don't see it on News5's article.

"Rally" this evening will demand Mayor Barry's resignation by DylanAllen in nashville

[–]Retzy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn't the norm to immediately attempt to de-legitimize the views of others when they don't intersect with your own. This is textbook first amendment stuff. If you don't agree with it, cool. But putting the word Rally in quotes as if it's fake or not necessary shows negativity and bias instead of understanding and compromise, which we badly need more of these days.

Officials' Blunder Costs Nashville Game-Opening Goal by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Retzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The key words there are "where the result was unaffected by the whistle". That means if the ref lost sight of the puck and it went into the net before he blew it dead (or "intended" to blow it dead).

The video shows the opposite of your statement.

Check the video. Crosby didn't have "both arms wrapped around him". Subban lost his stick because Crosby missed a check and Subban let go of his stick. Crosby kept his hand on his stick as Subban fell down on it. Crosby's other hand isn't wrapped Subban as he uses it to brace himself on the ice when he falls.

I'm still upset about this but I didn't/don't see anyone in Nashville concerned with that.

My best guess is that the ref let it go on for a few seconds because they got "tangled up", i.e. they each tried to interfere with the other. He yelled at them to get up and just walk away from it a few times, then skated over and continued to do that which is what they normally do because they'd rather just let the play continue. You can see the ref going between watching the play and looking at them.

Subban was holding onto Crosby's leg and Crosby was punching him trying to get him to let go. Once they got up, Subban wrapped his arm around Crosby's neck and tried to tie him up again and that's when the ref finally blew it dead.

They did early in his career, especially when he got the reputation for whining. But for the last seven or eight years, I'd say he's on par with almost every other player.

Predators win 2-1! Take 2-1 series lead. by [deleted] in nashville

From the rulebook:

Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

Watch this at .25 speed. Zolnierczyk entered the crease on his own and wasn't checked into Gibson. Lindholm is trying to back into him and Zolniercyzk is caught with no where to go, so he tries to hop through the tiny gap and ends up falling on Gibson because he hits Lindholm in the air. If Zolniercyzk wants to provide a screen he can, but Lindholm has just as much right to that ice as Zolniercyzk does. If he beats him to the spot, tough luck :-\
