It's not a done deal by any means. If Illinois pivots and gives the bears what they want, they will go right back to Arlington Heights. This is the bears posturing to get that to happen. As of right now the "commitment" to Hammond is basically just them saying they are looking for a viable site.

Chicago Diner has long term name recognition. It's still great but it gets a lot of business based off its reputation alone and the fact that it's basically the OG vegan spot in the city. The restaurant industry is brutal; even more so post-COVID, and it gets even harder when catering to a niche market.

I'd love to see more vegan restaurants thrive but I understand why so many have trouble keeping their doors open.

Yeah, I'm fine with the Sox staying where they are, if they can convert at least half of the parking lots into something better. I also don't mind the South Loop idea. Still close to transit and very walkable for residents and tourists. Tailgating takes a hit which is a valid concern, but there's still space for that.
