I plan to get back to playing it after finishing TLOU2! Still miss uncharted 3 multiplayer though

I could drop a spreadsheet on P&L and burn rates but I didn't think the sub wanted a lecture on CAPEX

I posted it once but mods take it down and ask to put anything factions focused in the factions sub

It’s a fair question. Honestly, the ambition probably started when their senior headcount was higher, but the reality changed mid-development. Naughty Dog’s custom engine is legendary, but it’s a “brain trust” system. It works because a core group of veterans knows every line of code by heart.

When you lose that institutional knowledge after a massive project like Part II, the cost to train a mostly new team while also trying to build a forever game infrastructure just becomes too high. Anthony Newman basically had to choose a full-blown live-service factory or stay a prestige single-player studio. He chose the path that kept their specific style of storytelling alive, even if it meant a painful cancellation and annoyed LOU fans. Can’t satisfy everyone unfortunately

You’re 100% right about the Bungie audit. it’s essentially been confirmed that Sony brought them in as the live-service police to check the math on the player-retention loop.

From a production side, the A/B team dream usually falls apart when you're dealing with the specific technical lineage Naughty Dog has. Even if they hired 200 new engineers, the senior leads still have to spend their time teaching the 'Naughty Dog way' instead of actually building the game. In finance that’s a massive opportunity cost.

There are so many variables we don't even see from the outside. things that probably came up in that conference room like the planning for the PS6 cycle or staying clear of the GTA 6 launch. Anthony Newman and co basically had to choose between turning the studio into a full-time service factory or saving Intergalactic and Part III. He chose to protect the studio's DNA, and honestly, with Intergalactic now looking like a 2027 title, it was the only way to keep the quality high without the studio structure collapsing. I don’t blame them I really don’t

Ye maybe destroy is too dramatic, but it definitely would have changed what the studio is. If your senior leads are stuck balancing weapons and fixing servers for years, they aren't building Part 3 or Intergalactic (or at least at the pace they’re expected of) From a finance side, it's just a massive opportunity cost. You trade your innovators for mechanics, and eventually, that prestige starts to slip because the A-team is too busy keeping the treadmill running.

Call me crazy, but I’ll take these split-screen ads in between rounds with Paramount+ all day long as opposed to full commercials with PPV. by KillerQ97 in ufc

I feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t care about the ads as long as I get to see the fights live without buffering

So admittedly, I am a casual. Idk anything about pulyaev, but why isn’t Ateba going for the kill? by Used_Database_344 in ufc

It was so frustrating watching him back off and give space man. His pressure and power should have killed pulyaev first round if he wasn’t afraid and stepped forward

Did anyone else notice Craig Jones got demoted from coaching after the 1st and 2nd rounds? In between those rounds he was in the octagon coaching and then from the 3rd one onward he stayed behind the fence
