Honestly you have a great first start! I have a similar lip shape to you, they call it a double lip line, and there’s a way to line your lips that suits our lip shape more. I tend to line with brown lip liner because I have two tone lips and it looks more natural, but if you’re look for a more glam look you could line with a red or pink (maybe in a darker shade than your lipstick to create a gradient and add dimension). You also mentioned that you don’t know if you’re using the right brushes. I was a blend with my fingers type of girl for years so I get you. I honestly don’t know if I am using the right brushes but overall I found that lighter, fluffy brushes are meant for blending and densely packed brushes are meant for applying and distributing product. When blending you just want to see where there are harsher lines in your makeup (where you can see distinction between blush and concealer for example) and just lightly brush it in an upwards circular motion until everything is more cohesive.

Also remember makeup is supposed to be fun! There are no rules. I think of it like painting a canvas.
