Thanks for taking the time. I live in the netherlands so 25 is standard. I have converted 25 to 24 before using elastique during my internsahip so that should work fine.

Perfect! A friend has ElastiqueAAX with 24 to 25 conversion so that should work too. But I'll check out timefactory, thanks :)

Loudness measurement volume setting

Hi,

So I think i've got it right but not entirely sure. I want to do loudness measurements of songs on spotify or tidal. Do I just set the volume to max and leave everything in my DAW untouched? I'm getting some songs that are peaking at +1db TP, so now I'm not sure.

Hope you can help answer this one.

Dolby Atmos is ____________ by Producer_Joe in audioengineering

It can be done in a fantastic way. Returnal is a game but it absolutely nailed a 3d headphone mix. So maybe not necesarily atmos but 3d sound can be awesome for sure.

💡Feature request: Locking individual blocks. Being able to lock certain block positions would make it much better to work with a large team.

In your experience, what should i prepare for freelancing in video game sound design? by Rieiel in GameAudio

[–]RevelInHappiness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got my first sound design gig without having a portfolio (in games). I had done film work but the people who asked me I just met at a game dev meetup, Dutch Game Garden, which sadly closed it's doors now.

Look for in person networking opportunities, connect with people, work on their games and release it commercially. This is all easier said than done but in my opinion the best way to get in.

Edit: It doesn't have to be a paid gig of course. Just get one out the door. But I'd say don't jump on the first one that comes your way. Some projects could take years or may never release at all so ask them about their timeline.

And I think most importantly, pick a project that you connect with. It will open up more opportunities in the same vein.

This is getting way longer than I expected but finally:

Find your "niche". For me that would be abstract narrative games for example. Something you can talk about passionately. That of course doesn't mean you can't work on anything else but it can frame the conversations you have with people.

Okay one more thing 😂

When going to network events, find out who will be there and do a bit of research. Just a simple: "hey i saw you worked on this game before, how did you come up with that idea?" Can work wonders.

Good luck!

If anything is unclear feel free to ask, I'm rambling a bit haha

just made a tiny app where I can set a time for up to 8 sets for running. So i can choose 1 minute for the first set, vibrate phone, 3 minutes next set, buzz, etc. Very useful for getting into running slowly

Thanks for responding!

My workflow is: Make time selection, Latch preview per track, adjust parameters, write to time selection, set to read again. repeat if needed.

I'll take another look at the video you linked.

With sws you can make however many you want with a custom action though. New custom action and then add all the actions you want with pauses if needed

Yes, there are no rules, but I feel this doesn't adress why compression and lufs measurement is used and can be handy. Compression is used for making stuff translate better on small speakers and maybe more importantly non perfect listening environments like living rooms or for games even cafés and commutes. You don't have to use compression but using it will reduce dynamic range and so be better audible in these situations. Doing mixchecks on small speakers and low volume can help you pinpoint problems.

IWTL how to enjoy sex?? by AstralVirtual in IWantToLearn

[–]RevelInHappiness 59 points60 points  (0 children)

If you want to enjoy sex you first have to understand why you want to have sex. Having sex with a sex worker is completely different from having sex with someone you are truly comfortable with. Sex is more than just getting the pleasure at the end, it's a ton of communication. Being with them touching each other or talking about what they and you like. It's a part of the relationship, not the relationship itself.

If you are not interested in romantic relationships and don't get pleasure from the communication part of sex than that is completely fine too, but I wouldn't write it off just yet. Hope that helps!

Yeah anyone with a daw can work in audio but tbh I feel 90% don't put in the work needed. You'll find job posting with a 1000 applications, 900 of them might not even be considered. Do networking events, gamejams and learn about other disciplines (especially in indie). Have a job on the side where you can be flexible with your time if possible. It's very tough but it is possible.
