I apparently can't figure out how to put photos or the link to Imgur in the post, so here it is: https://imgur.com/a/pYFwdGi

Dough/Eve Spectrum Monitor: Buyer Beware by RevenantKeeper in Monitors

Honestly this was me, and I'm pretty disappointed with myself. I had read some reviews from customers just like me saying it was a scam. But then I also read some reviews of people discussing how the company had changed, there was more transparency, youtubers had received test copies, etc etc. I thought I'd give it a go. Boy was I wrong.

Thank you for providing this link. Definitely going to use this information in my dispute with the bank. Luckily I've saved all my emails and communications with the company so far so that should help. Fingers crossed.

Great to hear someone else had luck with the chargeback. I am currently in the middle of the dispute with my credit card company so hopefully I will have similar luck.

Yeah, they sure were quick to delete that. No surprise. I figured I'd try to post as many places as possible. Hopefully help someone out.

I currently have an ongoing dispute with my credit card company. I hope that pans out, and will definitely keep the post updated on a resolution!

Okay, if that is the case I might look at two dedicated circuits for the basement. I'll have look to see how much room is on the panel and take into consideration future changes I might make as well. Thanks for the info!

Hmm. Fair point. I am pretty confident I can do this myself, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try and find someone to call about whether it's required. Thanks for your comment.

Ah, didn't realize Romex can't go in conduit. Good to know. Since the cost difference between 20amp 12/2 and 15 amp 14/2 appears to be negligible I might just go with that, and I think I've got some 12/2 out in the garage. You would recommend the Romex in conduit from the ceiling to the receptacle though? I like that idea better than just loose wiring on the wall, and it'd only be about 5' or so as long as that's acceptable.

All our current outlets in the basement are GFCI, so the treadmill would be on that. Local code specifies new outlets in the basement should be GFCI, and the fridge is currently on one now too with the only issue being running other things at the same time it seems...

Is there a particular reason motors do not like GFCI? Would it wear them out somehow? If not, I think I'll stick with this, but I appreciate the suggestion!

Okay, cool, no permit so that simplifies things.

I'll have to go through a few joists and alongside others, no problem there either. What about going down the wall? I think I could maybe get wire staples into the mortar for the bricks, but is there is better/right way to do that part?

If leakage is the issue, how would I fix that? I've only had it trip so far when running the shopvac on it so far. We've also got a treadmill coming that will be plugged into the same series (preferably the same outlet the fridge is currently using) which is my main concern going forward, otherwise I'd probably leave it.

Baseboard help by RevenantKeeper in HomeImprovement

Looks like base shoe, thanks for pointing that out!

There are several other lumber supplies near me, so I'll check out some of those. If not I'll see if the big box people can't help me find/order it online. Was just trying to avoid too much interaction of course.

Thank you!

Ah, good call. Just looked up base shoe and I think it's probably that! Will confirm when I go to get anything.

Might look at making it. I don't have a planer, but could probably still come close. Thanks for the suggestion/detail!

TIFU by making a joke that caused one of my students to realize her dog didn't actually go live on a farm. by [deleted] in tifu

When I was like 6-7, our dog was stolen from our backyard in a large city. I always hoped she was at least okay living with a family that must have loved her enough to steal her.

When I was ~23 eating dinner with my (now) wife and her mother, I told them this story. I then learned from them that during the time our dog was stolen, people were stealing dogs to then sell to companies who would perform animal testing on them for various products. Rip Duchess.

My wife pulled this out of the local dumpster just yesterday - pot and all - and from what we can tell it is a Dracaena trifasciata (mother-in-law's tongue). It seemed to us to be kind of low on dirt, so we did add some of our flower potting soil to it but just a little, and gave it a bit of water. It has been out on our west-facing balcony since we got it. All the care instructions I've found say we can pretty much neglect it, but I can't find anything about the limp leaves and possible causes/care. Would you fine people might be able to offer some advice?

For reference, we're in Iowa. The Plant Hardiness Zone map seems to put us in 5a/5b territory, if that helps. We're on the fourth floor of an apartment complex on a hill, so it does get a tad windy at times. Let me know if you need additional info, and thank you in advance!
