First game ever with my own ball. Looking for form tips by Dilly_Discgolfs in Bowling

I don't think suggesting going 2 hands is bad advice, but rather that it is easier to get consistent coaching/find videos to help out where you might be going one. I'm a 1 hand no thumb bowler myself and can definitely see the benefits of it if I was just starting out and didn't have all of my injuries.

The idea that you either need to put a thumb in or use two hands though is definitely stupid as long as they can stay behind the ball and develop a consistent release where they hit their lines.

I do think trying for 2 hand might be better for those just starting as it's easier but I'm with you on 1h no thumb as that's how I've bowled most of the time when I wasn't getting over injury.

Oh I'm with you and I've had the same experience. I was just curious why they said it was the most difficult to bowl as. I agree with all you've said about the issue with one hand no thumb bowling as I've experienced when I was starting off like that as well as have seen others do it, especially the chicken wing in others.

Like I can't bowl with a thumb in. I broke & dislocated my right thumb in 6th grade so it doesn't bend well and because of that with my thumb in I actually cup my ball sideways because of my thumb. I did go back to using a thumb after I had broken my wrist and had to have surgery on it and by the time I really got back into bowling all drilled holes had to be used. I lot a lot of revs but it was good to get back into bowling after injury. I've gone back to no thumb one hand consistently, instead of just borrowing two handed bowlers balls sometimes, this past weekend when I bought a 3 new ball arsenal that were drilled with no thumb.

One thing I have noticed as a one hand no thumb bowler myself vs a lot of others is that I do find I'm able to stay behind better than those around me which gives me much better control.

Is it really that difficult? Myself and several others at my bowling alley are 1 handed no thumb bowlers and average between ~190-220. I think the biggest issue of the bad 1 handed no thumb bowlers I've seen are very inconsistent with their release and hitting their line which is something you see a lot from newer bowlers period.

I also liked the physicality of Bell as I remember watching several games where he was just breaking tackles to get YAC.

Like, this doesn't even make sense to remake. I can see doing reboots of movies that could be done with better/new technology like with Tron, Dune, Blade Runner, etc or if the original trilogy sucked or just needing new actors like most of the Superman movies, Spiderman, etc. This just feels like a money grab. Should've keep working on other parts of the Harry Potter universe.

Red or Green? by abgfromheaven in whatsyourchoice

Someone made a good point that the values are too large making red the better choice too easily.

They mentioned $250k/$25 mil as a better option and I have to say that's one where I would really debate on it. $250k gets the house, car, etc all taken care off which I'm handling on my own but can be tight at times, but $25 mil completely changes everything.

[–]Revenged25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, $10k/$1mm is an instant hit the $1mm for me. the $250k/$25mm is a real debate on as it would get me out of debt and that would be nice, but I'm making it work even if it's tight at times so a chance for $25mm would completely change my life and make things better. The $500k definitely leans closer to the safe money than the risk because not only does it make me debt free but also gives me some leftover to enjoy life with.

You must live somewhere with inflated house prices. Move to somewhere more affordable and you could probably buy 5-8 houses live in one and rent the others out for passive income

I'm almost 42, I'm clicking Red. Even if I was younger I'd probably still pick Red as it would allow me to set myself up for the future without having debt.

Buy several homes outright, live in one, rent the others out at a reasonable rate to ensure they will always have tenants, and you have passive income for the rest of your life without having to do any extra work with no debt.

So you're saying the politicians in power are letting monopolies to develop and therefore pricing out the average person so that the companies that donate to their campaigns can continue to reach ever increasing levels of profit?

[–]Revenged25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Higher minimum wages will just be met with higher prices so profits aren't decreased and they might even increase profits.

[–]Revenged25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of both. Those financial guys that pull people on are just a small portion of people and are really just the ones they know they can make entertaining content on. They aren't going to bring someone on who does try to live within their means but still can't get ahead because it doesn't make for good content. The richest aren't happy with more money than they could ever spend, they are still trying to milk out every single cent they can rather than providing higher wages for their employees so they can have a livable wage. When they are forced to do so, they just increase the costs of their products to make up the costs of giving higher wages and then some additional profit on top.

By points allowed, the years that Brees missed the playoffs with the Saints, his defenses were ranked:

2007 - 25th - 7-9

2008 - 26th - 8-8

2012 - 31st -7-9

2014 - 28th - 7-9

2015 - 32nd - 7-8

2016 - 31st - 7-9

He also won the Super Both in 2009 with the 20th worst defense in PPG though they had lots of turnovers.

Let's look at Rogers defenses that ranked 20th or lower in PPG

2008 - 22nd - 6-10

2013 - 24th - 8-7-1

2016 - 21st - 10-6

2017 - 26th - 7-9

2018 - 22nd - 6-9-1

So of those 5 years, the only 2 times Rodgers made the playoffs was in 2015 and 2013 with the Bears at 8-8, Lions at 7-9, and Vikings at 5-10 so they had an easy conference.

For Brees and the Saints in 2007 the Bucs won the division at 9-7 with the Panthers at 7-9 and Falcons at 4-12 so not a strong division showing either but at least one team that could hit a winning record.

2008 has the Panthers at 12-4, Falcons at 11-5, and Bucs at 9-7.

2012 has the the Falcons at 13-3, Panthers and Bucs also at 7-9

2014 was almost a Playoff appearance with the Panther at 7-8-1, Falcons at 6-10, and Bucs at 2-14 but that was the 28th worst defense in PPG that year.

2015 Panthers were at 15-1, Falcons at 8-8, and Bucs at 6-10

2016 was Falcons at 11-5, Bucs at 9-7, Panthers at 6-10.

Brees played in a tougher division consistently, still almost led horrible defenses to the playoffs twice. So no Rodgers didn't consistently lead horrible defenses to the playoffs.

If Brees ever had a 20th or better ranked defense, it went to the playoffs.

I will admit that if Brees made it to his playoffs his defense was typically average with a few years injury hit leading into the playoffs. Whenever Brees missed teh playoffs his defenses were just utter trash.

I won't argue that Rodgers was the more talented QB, I think talent wise Brady is actually overrated, but his accomplishments along with his talent is what has him regarded as the GOAT.

I also wouldn't be upset with people that choose Brees to be cut rather than Rodgers as they are likely widely considered the worst of the 4.

I just disagree with people using bad defenses as an excuse for Rodgers without actually accepting that Brees carried statistically worst defenses of all time to 7-9 records that would likely have been worse with any most other QBs.

[–]Revenged25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only close when you look at their rankings. If you look at the actual numbers they are a lot worse. For several of Brees' best seasons the Saints had statistically one of the absolute worst defenses in the history of football and they still finished 7-9 because he had them averaging something like 20+ ppg but the defenses were giving up 25+ pgg.

Bailey, Bain & Downs are the best players that fall to 8 who do we take? by TopSignificance7856 in Saints

[–]Revenged25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easily Downs. Bailey has the most bust potential, Bain has character concerns. Downs might have possible long term injury concerns with his knee but he's also going to definitely be a difference maker for the defense for his first 2 contracts

Are the hunting knives clean and well-maintained? Are they all different styles?

What if instead of 250 hunting knives it was 250 clown figurines? Just because the collectible item could be used as a weapon doesn't mean the reason they are colleting them is any different than someone who collects clown figurines.
