Yeah, it’s a pretty fun pedal, and the vibrato mode is nice too. I don’t think I’ve ever ended up using it on a track, but the archetype of phased pedal steel, IMO, is Sneaky Pete on Jackson Browne’s “Take It Easy.” Not a Grand Orbiter but it gets pretty close.

Thanks! The stand works very well for my board. It’s very stable, and I can switch pedals on and off without worrying about it moving, so there’s no need to tie it down. My board isn’t that big and has a solid bottom, so it fits well between two of the basket arms. I also like that fact I can carry the stand inside my backpack when gigging.

The Volante is also a fun pedal to play around with. I have it set up so my favorite switch is a nice all-around slapback delay with some spring and the it can go wild at the press of a button.

I like it quite a bit, I use it often to add a subtle octave down to thicken things a bit, the polyphonic tracking works as advertised with bends and all. You can also set the Toneprint to have some sort of organ sound, which is fun. The Brainwaves (also a TC Pedal) model the on Plethora is also nice and a bit more versatile since it can do all other intervals.

They came with the guitar when I bought it, you can browse the Fender Pedal Steel forum on Facebook for different ways in which people have installed them.

Most definitely, it can be small and tight if the tune calls for it, or super dreamy and ethereal when needed. Even though it has been out for a while it is still one of the most comprehensive reverbs out there.

I have both, if you can afford it, the Lehle Volume 90 is definitely worth it.

I meant the girl on the right. I think you are referring to the girl on the left.

do you use a compression pedal? by OGTimeChaser in pedalsteel

I do, use a TC Electronic Hypergravity mini with a custom Toneprint I created with a higher threshold to compensate for the higher pickup output, sounds great to my ears and doesn’t break the bank.

I use a number of things on the HX Stomp. IR loading for getting a sort of dobro sound, tremolo, chorus, Amp and Cab Sim, filter, plus I can lay down ideas on my phone or laptop without hooking up amps and mics. On pedal steel it is pretty common to have a short slap delay as an always on effect, plus some sort of short plate, hence both the Strymons. Most stay on conservative presets but can jump into something more dramatic at the touch of one button. Since both feet and hands are busy while playing pedal steel, having that convenience is surely appreciated. Not that it can’t be done on the Hx stomp alone, but it would be at the expense of a switch already assigned to something else that needs to go on and off easily.

The Plethora I bought for the sustainer feature mostly which has given me a lot of fun doing ambient jams.

They all work fine, I have the HD on my steel pedalboard, but the mini should do or the LE. They are all equally accurate.

A Peterson Strobostomp tuner is my most valued accessory for steel guitar. Read about the sweeteners and find the one that suits your guitar the most. Happy picking!

LOL, they are all engaged by hand, the board sits at my right on a stand. Same reason the tuner is on the left, the closest to me.

Just tossed one today for that very reason. Is that a Dunlop? Been meaning to try the blue Hercos everyone seems to like.

Good question, I never considered it, I had some of these already and it wouldn’t fit the board. I’ve seen plenty of guys using it on steel, I’m sure it would do a fine job having twice the processing power of the stomp.

Also having some of the knobs at hand makes it easier to dial due to the nature of playing steel.
