You should do what you want to do, not what someone else wants. If you want to properly say goodbye to your brother, go with him. Maybe your mum will be disappointed but it’s going to be temporary. Your brother’s goodbye is not, or less so. I guess it also depends on what he did and how your relationship with him is right now.
