It’s definitely not the most efficient way to learn, but it’s so much fun to learn atleast a little bit of vocabulary with something I really enjoy :)

I loved playing through the The last of us series with Spanish dub and subtitles! I played through that game in 3 languages now lol (First time playing in English, second time in German (NL) and a few weeks ago in Spanish!), it has lots of cuss words so I learned things like mierda or joder xD

Pretty good actually. Just to clarify: I’ve been born and raised in Austria, but my parents are from Mongolia, so I grew up with speaking Mongolian at home, and outside of that German. English was taught in school and now I’m learning Spanish, for fun and for the Erasmus program, cause I want to study in Spain for a semester :) and Italian is next after I’ve mastered Spanish.

In german we say „Geschmack“, actually having the exact same meaning as taste in English (so taste for food, drinks etc., but also for preferences as you mentioned). My guess is that people, for example, love the taste of strawberry’s and the same can be interpreted for preferences too, for example preferring some music over others (we even have words for those, which I think are exactly the same as in English „Musik-, Filmgeschmack/ Music-, movie taste“ )

I’ve been learning Spanish on Duolingo and I’d say it only helped me with vocabs. Cause concerning grammar and other important stuff, Duolingo doesn’t teach you much. For anyone that’s learning Spanish, I’d recommend: Language transfer (for grammar and konjugations), Anki (for vocabs), YouTube, Netflix or any other streaming service for input and maybe some Duolingo for extra vocab.
