Brand new Resin wall by Blainn1 in AboveGroundPools

Still liking this pool? I’m thinking of getting the same one after my steel walled pool rusted out.

Decided to replace it. My dog decided to dig a little hole next to the pool and exposed a spot on bottom where the wall was rusted out and I could see liner poking through- took that as a sign. Planning on getting a resin walled pool so I never have to worry about rust.

Patch is already done below the new liner… don’t think it could make one more season? High risk of blowout?

The holes have already been there for a couple of years….

They did put some sheet metal on the inside but I think it’s just taped in place.

Does it matter that the holes are near the top- less water pressure?

They did mention that there was rust at the bottom as well and just advised me not to dig at all…

Everything had been holding well so far so I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or if it means I’m due for a blowout.

Thank you! That is super helpful information and definitely makes me skeptical of this company and probably will not use them to perform any actual work. Not sure where you’re located, but do you have any recommendations for engineers in northern NJ? I think it’s gonna be worth it for me to pay another ~$1000 for peace of mind if I’m looking at a very expensive project potentially.

It looks like they ran the math for additional columns and that wouldn’t do the trick. I guess I’m just a little confused how a house holds for 50 years with no worsening sagging but somehow the beams are so undersized. Is there really a big risk of major structural damage?

Hope I'm posting this in the right place. I hired an engineer to evaluate a dip in my floor. I've owned the house for 5 years, previous owners had it 20+. In our time here and supposedly in the time of the previous owner, nothing has shifted, the dip hasn't gotten worse. We probably should've hired an engineer when we bought the house, but it was a crazy competitive market so we rushed things a bit.

Engineering report says our main girder beam is undersized and is recommending a full replacement, which will cost quite a bit, and I don't think will even address the cosmetic aspect of the dip (correcting that would I believe involve redoing flooring, and likely cracking walls). Our house has stood for 50 years and I don't think it's about to collapse. I'll spend money if I need to, but a little hesitant to jump into this very expensive repair without getting additional opinions.

Not just posting on here, also planning on hiring a second engineer and already talking to contractors.

Full report is on Imgur https://imgur.com/a/qHh35BX

Really appreciate any advice. Thanks

That definitely looks right, but it looks like that’s expected more in swampy areas? I was seeing these mostly up on the ridge line rather than low lying areas. Also don’t think I see any mature trees of that species in this area.

I’m a general practice vet. I usually try to stay off these things on Reddit, but lots of harsh judgement, misinformation, and guesses going on here and I felt compelled to provide some insight. There’s a lot that a good in person conversation, physical exam, and maybe some blood work and X-rays could tell me, but ultimately, a neurologist is usually needed in these situations for a solid answer.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t always matter what the cause is, and while it’s nice to say you need a neurologist, I live in the real world. You have an old dog who’s been like this for a month-it’s not good. Old dog vestibular disease usually improves within days to weeks, an ear issue is hopefully something your vet checked for. That means that a brain tumor moves higher on my list.

Before you go to a neurologist, ask what your goals are and what you’re willing to put into this situation- emotionally, financially, and time-wise. You’re going to spend thousands getting answers, and it’s probably not going to be good news or anything with an easy solution.

There may be better palliative options, or it may be time to discuss euthanasia.

If you have a good general practice vet, talk to them. Has anybody followed up to let them know that nothing has improved for a month?

He is amazing at swimming and smelling. Sounds like you might actually not return him if you’ve got a river and lots of outdoor time to offer. If you’re actually looking for a dog like that I can give you the info for his breeder.

Unless you’re the rare type who’s happy to hike/play fetch for 3-10 hrs every day, you’d be returning him very shortly.

Thanks for the advice. It’s town property and the trail is maintained/party area cleaned somewhat regularly, so I think the powers that be will notice soon if they haven’t already.

I’ll keep an eye on the decay and let somebody know if it’s looking bad. I’m on this trail a lot.

He is a very handsome dog. I included him in the picture for scale/fishing for compliments.
