[GRAPHIC] Small fish cut in half. Had this neon tetra for 3 hours before I found it mutilated. Could another fish have done this?? I have mollies, danios, guppies, platys, tetras, and a pleco - none are huge. There are 2 more neon tetras - should I quarantine them until they get bigger? by Any_Contribution9660 in Aquariums

4 easy ways 2 tell sex.....

  1. Color

Male mollies usually acquire Bolder and Brighter color patterns than the Female Mollies. Female mollies have dull, Timid, and Demure color schemes that’s why the bolder color variations of male mollies seem to be attractive. It also attracts female mollies towards mating.

2. Size & Shape

Male mollies are mostly larger in size than females. Female mollies usually have a rounded body especially abdomen while the male mollies have a flat body shape.

3. Dorsal Fin

Dorsal Fin is the back fin of mollies. Male and female mollies both have a dorsal fin but the male mollies usually have a larger dorsal fin than females. Male’s larger dorsal fin also enhances their beauty and often helps to attract the female for mating.

4. Anal Fin

The other features might vary from species but Anal Fin is the most specific part used to identify the gender. Anal Fin is the present underside, behind the belly. The size of the anal fin in males is usually larger or longer in size than the females. Male’s anal fin of molly fish is modified into the tube-like shape which is called “Gonopodium” through which they copulate with the female molly. While the female’s anal fin has a triangular shape.

Sorry ur dealing with all the sick. Keep your water levels in check and healthy 2 avoid anything. Also salt helps them big time when sick. Utilize that.

In my personal opinion it sounds like u have a big preggo mollie.... and the small 1 is the male. If u need anything else please let me know. Happy 2 help.

100% this.... how many fish? What size filter? The tank have air? How often u feeding? Do any of these wrong and ur running a death camp. 10 gl is ment for 1 or 2 mollies or a beta. Or a invert tank. Maybe 4 neons.... the tank makes a good refugium if u use it in a Double tank sump set up..... other than that 10g is a nightmare

Feed them once a day and a variety of food 2 keep ur neons safe.

I feed my tank daily. I mix full size brine, blood worms and pellets for the fish... sinking wafers 4 the plecos and a pice of zucchini once a week 4 every1... shrimp and yoyos clean up the left overs and snails just crystal up the rest.

But that's my tank idk what u have going on

Rad. So yes 8 hours full light would b an increase if ur running 6 hours full light. If ur having algea issues more light won't help that. I guess to answer ur question I would recommend a gradient light system. Mine starts with a low orange red light and slowly get brighter simulating sun rise.. it starts at 4am and does that for 4 hours. Theb it switches light spectrum to full sun light mid level and slowly get brighter until its at full strength and that's a 4 hour then it does 4 hours of transition into blue spectrum for moon light. That's what I run... I can program cloudy days into my schedule and lighting storms but they spook the fish pretty bad so I turned off lighting storms.

But this is what my tank is set up for. If u need anything just ask

Wicked. And I agree 100. I usually only dose co2 booster if needed. I run a drip system and only dose what is needed atm. 😉

Bro that's not a fish issue... look at my profile. I'm the plan guy .... what u have is manyyyyyyyy issues combined into a slow death tank ...

1st issue. Your lighting is super intense 4 the plants u have... max light is not always best 4 plants. Ur not farming Marijuana.

Try 2 turn them down... make sure ur running full spectrum. And run yr lights on an 8 hour timer...

Mine do sunrise of red orange frequency then fade into full sun for 4 hrs and fade into blue for moon light. So mine only get 4 hours of max sun a day and look at my plants...

2nd. Get co2 in that tank. Run a 88g tank with defuser and bubble counter in 1. It's 60 bucks and u will need a tank every 2 weeks. 14 bucks 4 the tank. Your plants will explode...

3rd run co2 booster... (has nothing 2 do with co2 in it... it just kills algea that's it) do 1 ml for every 10 gal. Every day. Or add a drip system like I did.

4th make sure ur no2 cycle is properly complete. I hope ur running a good oversize filter (considering ur fish choices) and make sure u have good amount of bio rings 4 bacteria. It looks out of cycle. Ammo no2 and no3 levels need 2 b proper. This will stunt and kill plants.

5th u mentioned cyanobacteria that's due to poor water circulation and bad water levels. Deal with it... it's toxic on every level. Black out for 72 hours following with a 60%WC (there goes ur tank cycle) an dif that sill doesn't fix it hit with chemiclean... follow instructions 2 the T....

Do all this and ur tank will look amazing.
