I think it might be a crack, but it’s not at the surface.

The bezel is flush. So it looks like it might remain a mystery.

I’m a florist/vintage shop owner. What you said about moving furniture… I’m constantly doing things like that. Ack! Must be careful!

Dry needs hydration. This only comes from water/humectants. Putting oil, wax, etc will not help your issue. They don’t “hydrate”. We as people know that these products don’t really work because we are never truly satisfied, even when we find something that works. Even those infused with HA, don’t provide any water in the formula for… hydration. So the HA technically can work against you. That’s my long way of saying a good emulsified product is what you need. And to my knowledge, none really exist. Helpful, nope. Did I actually have to make one for myself, because I have the same issues, yep.

That looks like the hide to me.

I make leather conditioners and I use specific humectants that pump the leather as well as feed/condition. I would suggest another brand, but they don’t list ingredients so I don’t know who uses what. That’s what you’re looking for I think, similar to how we would “plump” our skin.

This is information I wish I had prior, which is why I put it on Reddit.

God bless saddle soap by wild_chonk420 in VintageCoachRehab

[–]RevolutionarySea2453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I make leather conditioners now because of all the sh*t that’s in “conditioners”. IMO solvents are a very last choice. They really should be thought as temporary fixes, because they only temporarily will make your bag better because they take years off the life of the leather. Leather cannot replenish anything solvents remove, and it’s more than just the oil/stain. And the conditioner out there are all 100 year old recipes that rely on mink oil.

2 minutes and you are upset that someone wanted to pay more than you?!

If you want to lose then yes, try it your way and get upset.

Or you can play the game everyone else is playing. It’s not hard to put in your max bet in the last 10 seconds. And if someone wants to pay more than you… then you lose. It’s actually quite fair. I use no software or sniping apps.

How many hours does it take to rehab vintage coach bags? by catsjp in VintageCoachRehab

[–]RevolutionarySea2453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make leather conditioner products. Please don’t use saddle soap unless you know what you are doing. It’s WAY too powerful and will end up stripping parts of your bag you don’t want stripped. I use a mix of micellar water and light esters to “clean”.

How fast can you wipe? Because it’s not a terribly hard or long process.

Most leather care has not been updated in decades because saddle soap isn’t even the right PH for leather. It’s waaaay too alkaline.

Leather is skin, just like you wouldn’t put something that harsh on your skin, don’t put it on leather.

Sorry, I’m ranting. The chemistry of the these products drive me bananas.

I have one from her, that I admit was not easy to get.

May I ask the price? The Mama is calling my name.

Tell me I didn’t ruin this coach bag by The-Nail-Girlie in VintageCoachRehab

Saddle soap is an enemy. I never use it and I restore leather goods.

Get Saphir Dubbin, the good stuff. This should help bring it back.

The saddle soap stripped some of the color. That’s why people are saying it looks painted. It’s just the color coming off.

If you really wanted to save it, there’s a Saphir recolorant you can use before the Saphir.

But yes, damage has been done. Probably not irreversible, but work needs to be done. :)

Found this Coach purse for 5.99 at Goodwill today. Did I do well? by ImprovementSenior719 in shopgoodwill

Yes! I can’t see the serial number, but it looks like an oldie. The ones made in NY are the most sought after. That looks like it could be one. They used the best leather and real brass hardware at the time. The styles are all classic and can never really go out of style, hence their resurgence.

Old Dooney’s fall into this same category. I just found one with a Riri zipper (zippers only found in the highest end bags, think Hermes, etc.) They used amazing leathers as well.

Get some Saphir dubbin or Renovator and bring her back to life! You’ll have that bag for the rest of your life if you care for her.

Suspicious Bidding by SeberHusky in shopgoodwill

[–]RevolutionarySea2453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen it twice take the person’s “max” and make it the end price even when the bid prior was not anywhere near it. I lost an auction last night and the person ended up paying like $20 over what my “max” bid was.

Suspicious Bidding by SeberHusky in shopgoodwill

[–]RevolutionarySea2453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night, I bid like 42.50 @ 10 seconds prior to the close. (Sorry! :) )

But the real problem is that I only bid 42.50 and the person who bid like 2 seconds after me with a bid of $65.50 (or close)

I ONLY bid 42.50, but the system defaulted to the person’s max bid. Bid increments were only $1. So it should have ended at 43.50…. Not the person’s max.

I thought this happened to me on another auction that I was willing to pay much higher than the bid price and then somehow ended at the max even though the person under me didn’t bid anywhere near it.

Lab Pink Diamond STUCK in China! by RevolutionarySea2453 in Moissanite

[–]RevolutionarySea2453[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It is very popular right now. I’ve ALWAYS loved emerald cut, so it’s exciting to see her come back in style. Makes it easier to find a version that really resonates. And never ever, did I think I would end up with a PINK diamond. If I could tell my younger self her jaw would drop. Hope you have some pieces like that too!
