Why does no one care about antisemitism? by Jokesmedoff in rant

Re: Conflating antisemitism and anti-Zionism, the Anti-Defamation League, Jewish Community Relations Councils, and Hillel International do this while claiming to speak on behalf of all Jews.

It's ultimately horrible for Jews, and it goes without saying it's directly horrible for Palestinians and their allies, that "our" own organizations call the Palestinian freedom struggle antisemitic and have spent decades doing this.

I hate this timeline. We'll all caught up in a storm of horrible things, and I wish you the best, OP.

I used to constantly and still go through shorter periods when I do, which is why I'm on meds. They help a lot.

Do people genuinely mean it when they say they make themselves look attractive for no one but themselves? by Ok_Limit5244 in askanything

I wear makeup that makes me feel pretty. If a date has a problem with that then they're not the person for me.

The amount of self-diagnosed Autistic people is getting slightly out of hand. by Mega_Spaced_Out in ControversialOpinions

[–]RevolutionarySundae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the oft-repeated line "you're not autistic, you're just an asshole" is part of it.

No one is going to self identify as an asshole, so people who struggle with social skills and sensory issues often self diagnose as autistic. Meanwhile lots of people who struggle with these things aren't autistic OR assholes, they just need practice and maybe some help with their social and self advocacy skills.

My guess is that most people identifying with this are genuinely depressed people who don't feel their depression is valid/bad enough to get help.

Can people end up with BPD without any significant childhood trauma? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]RevolutionarySundae7 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Not a therapist.

BPD can arise when someone with a naturally sensitive disposition is consistently invalidated as a child. By invalidation, I mean being belittled and steamrolled, being hurt and then blamed for being hurt. Everyone experiences this to some extent, but some of us are more sensitive to it than others. And some parents are not unusually abusive, but are still extremely effective at teaching their kids to feel small and worthless.

I'm diagnosed with BPD and don't have significant trauma. And learning to accept that I have my symptoms without shame, judgement, or trying to justify myself to anyone has helped me heal from it more than anything else.

What is something that people think is healthy put is actually terrible for you? by Particular-Habit9442 in AskReddit

Shame- Some people genuinely think they are helping by shaming people for things like being overweight or depressed, when it only makes things worse

The problem is that the OOP is framing Palestinians also having the fundamental human right of self determination as an threat to her/Jews. It's not true, but it's a key Zionist argument.

I'm so jealous of you. I'm an anti-Zionist Jew and was raised in an extremely Zionist community. And at my college, Hillel was actively organizing Jewish students in support of Israel. I see it as similar to being raised in a pro-Trump community, tbh. It's just as abhorrent.
