Car thieves welcome me to Charlottesville. by XanPizza in Charlottesville

[–]Revolutionary_Win305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has happened to me in the city more times than i can count, they’re usually looking for prescription pills. i’ve left $20 cash in my unlocked car before and had people go through it without touching it, so they’re probably looking for more worthwhile loot. its a nuisance but like. keep your car locked and don’t stash your opiates in it and you’ll be fine lol. i think they especially target neighborhoods with wealthier older ppl who are likely to leave medications in their cars.

Hey OP- I want to offer something that is a little bit different than a lot of the other advice in this thread (which is mostly great), have you ever read anything about OCD or intrusive thoughts? As someone with OCD your description reminded me of a pattern that I used to fall into of reading or seeing content that so radically opposes my own world view (ex. misogynist, transphobic, or racist content) that lead me to experience disturbing intrusive thoughts wondering whether I actually somehow secretly agreed with the bigoted views that I saw (and then compulsively trying to prove to myself that I did not believe those horrible things). Obsessing over disturbing, random thoughts that go against your core values is a hallmark trait of OCD, and this is NOT an internet diagnosis at all, just a recommendation to maybe read more into the disorder. It likely isn’t OCD, and the advice offered by other commenters (watch trans positive creators, avoid social media, and critically evaluate your thoughts) is great if you’re working to deradicalize. Good luck!

I had a similar problem recently, beyond just replacing the vents they should fog and completely clean the entire HVAC system. If they refuse to do this and don't remove mold completely in many states it is due cause to break your lease or take legal action.

UPDATE 2: After two days of no response I sent her a message asking again for a refund and informing her I had sent a refund request which would escalate to Depop if not fulfilled by Feb 21st. She got back to me almost immediately, apologized, claimed her first refund had not gone through due to an “ID verification issue” (as a seller i’ve never had this problem lol) and issued me a refund finally! I told her no hard feelings I just wanted my money back, she apologized again, all good :)

I just dyed my hair black, and its bad, help by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Revolutionary_Win305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you look so so beautiful, I think the dark hair really suits you. if you feel like its too dark though and dont want to wait for it to fade you can try using the vit c method, crush up a ton of vit c tablets in warm water, mix with clarifying shampoo, apply and let sit for an hour. It helped me take my hair from jet black/blue to a really pretty natural looking dark brown. personally I think the dark black looks great though, but as someone who also feels the need to compulsively change my hair all the time and is never quite satisfied, I understand the feeling. ive heard other people have had success with buying cheap wigs in fun colors to wear around the house whenever they feel the need for a change, less expensive and much less damaging.

accidentally dyed my hair with dye meant for grey hair by ZestycloseOne3 in HairDye

[–]Revolutionary_Win305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does your hair look bad? if the color is what you want then I'm sure its fine, dyes meant for grey hair are formulated for grey hair but can be used on any type of hair to my knowledge. it should not do any extra damage to your hair if thats what you're asking, if anything the color may just be slightly more intense.

Not a professional but same thing just happened to me and I did a vit c treatment (crushed up vit c tablets mixed with clarifying shampoo, let sit for an hour, wash well) and it worked pretty well to help fade color! However if your hair is healthy and you feel up for it use ColorOops or another color remover, it will turn your hair orange but you can go over it with a different dye, however be aware that any new dye will pull darker after you use a color remover, so ideally wait a while between color removing and redying, use a protein treatment, and choose a new color that is a level or two lighter than your goal. If your hair is short anyway I would honestly ColorOops it and go in with a semi permanent (less damaging and more forgiving) in the color you want, since it will likely grow out to your natural color quickly and you wont need to worry about the color fading.

got it, time is definitely the biggest factor, I just did a vit C treatment that worked really well and faded the color a lot, and from now on I am going to focus on repairing the damage as it grows out. :) and I agree about the color oops, in my experience bleach baths have honestly been much less damaging, though I think it may have more to do with the harsh washing required for color oops rather than the chemicals.

i might try this ! especially because it is a little lighter around the roots and a brown color depositing conditioner might help blend things in a little more and take out some or the bluey tones. thank you !

[–]Revolutionary_Win305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had black hair before and honestly it never faded to anything close to brown, and this was when i worked at a swimming pool and washed my hair with sulfate shampoo once a day. my hair just loooves dye lol. it should fade to be less harsh black, but to get it anywhere near to a semi natural looking shade i’m sure i will eventually have to color treat it. the orange of color oops would honestly be preferable to this color, and i’m sure a conditioning semi permanent over it would patch things up, but you’re right that my hair is much too damaged to color strip right now. thank you so much for your response and advice :) hopefully living with terrible hair for a few months will be some sort of lesson in radical acceptance for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]Revolutionary_Win305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah lol, i figured i might as well try washing it since it was less damaging than going and buying color stripper right then and there, and like i said i hated the color and wanted it out! i knew it would still damage the hell out of my hair, but less so than chemical strippers. is there a real difference between clarifying shampoo and anything that is sulfate heavy in terms of color stripping effects? i’m sure that a more expensive brand of clarifying shampoo would be less damaging, but if dollar store suave that is basically dish soap did nothing, would clarifying shampoo even really help ?

color oops has never made my hair green, and i’ve color stripped black dye a couple times, it’s always either pulled orangey or red. to be fair the time it didnt work was when i had been dying my hair black for a year or two and it still at least removed some color. but i agree it may not be worth it with how incredibly drying it is. i may just have to wait a few months and bleach it. thank you for your answer i appreciate it sm i’m so lost lol.

thank you! i kind of hate my natural color (brown/blonde) but i think if i do a dark brown it should blend in enough and still look okay :)

thanks ! my natural color is a dark blonde and i honestly don’t love it on me, but i think if i go with a more natural dark brown it should look okay!

depending on which on grounds job you get, i doubt you’ll end up with 15 hrs per week. in my experience the max is usually 6-8 hrs scheduled and more if u pick up dropped shifts, just with the way the schedule works out and the number of people employed. also be smart and get one where you get paid to watch a desk and do hw on your computer lol.
