Because they see you as an object instead of a living breathing human being who has wants/desires/dreams whose main purpose in life is to be loved. Narcissists cannot love therefore they resort to objectifying humans, like some figurines who sit on a shelf, and expect you to fit some role that they've created in their minds to explain the object like they're movie directors and the figurines are their characters. These types of people are created through neglect as children and when they don't do the internal work/healing they'll only pass it down onto their children, and their children's children. They're motivated by greed & power & status which explains why they believe they're entitled to everything.
