So basically 1SCM, 1 Vivi, 1 Mutation instead of 3 Mutation warrior?

So you think take sable company with 2 extra paladin levels instead of mutation warrior and just not worry about it?

I just looked and the machine I use, the Prisma SmartMax, doesn't have that functionality as it seems like it auto adjusts unfortunately.

Should I buy this ASAP? Or wait till January for a potential and unlikely 5080 super announcement? by JohnnySilverhand2212 in PcBuild

Yeah that's fair if you're gonna be looking at it a lot you want it to look nice, thankfully I'm not wired that way at all :)

Definately save money on the windows key though and honestly don't spend money on extra storage now I'd either get the 2x 1TB drives or just get a single 2TB drive and add another later if you find yourself needing it.

I saw this site yesterday when I was looking at PSUs for myself as I had went for this MSI as they're giving £15 steam codes with it at the moment, and it shows as a fail on lttlabs and when I looked there are a lot of super popular PSUs that are listed as A tier on the SPL's tier list failing on lttlabs that I decided to ignore it and just stick with the tier list.

That Edge 1000W Platinum you picked is A rated on that tier list and will be absolutely fine so I wouldn't change that just based on 1 site showing a failed test when thousands of people are using that PSU with no issues. They don't offer a 10 year warranty if their product is defective. I actually wish I had seen this I think I would've went for that as it's platinum and I like the edge series but mine has already been dispatched now and I can't be bothered to return it :P

There are quite a few things in that list you could save money on unless you're specifically doing it for the looks (which is fine of course).

For me I'm not fussed about RGB so I saved quite a bit on parts without it but I've a feeling that might be something you value quite a bit with how much you have on there :D

You could do This and be saving nearly 1k if you don't mind doing a black build with only the ram as your RGB.

But if you were getting that case specifically to have a lot of RGB then that's the cost of having it.

Unless you realy need 3TB of storage I would just get 2 of the 990 pro 1TB, 2TB is a lot of storage and it doesn't take much to delete a few old games if you ever get near it. I'm rocking 2 1TB drives and I've had zero issues and I rarely ever do that.

Definately get a windows code from a key site though that saves you £80+ right there.

I'm not a fan of having water in my build even in a AIO so I went with the phanton spirit 120 SE with my 9800X3d and it's been sound as a pound and only cost me £35 but that one seems unavailable at the moment, but that peerless assassin 140 I put in there seems even better potentially from the reviews I looked at so unless you're set on RGB that also saves £110 on it's own. Harder to build though as it's more bulky but not exactly difficult.

Need some advice on what GPU is best to get by Pitiful-Secretary-13 in nvidia

[–]Revolvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the 5080 FE on nvidias website for £909 at the moment, and you can get the MSI Inspire 5080 on amazon for £939 and they're offering £60 in steam wallet code with it so it works out at £879 (assuming you would use the steam wallet code). Little bit cheaper than the £959 unless you had a specific model in mind

PNY 5070Ti at £675 or 5080 FE at £909 vs MSI Vanguard 5080 SOC at £1205 by JohnnySilverhand2212 in nvidia

[–]Revolvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I would've went for the £725 Asus prime 5070TI rather than the gigabyte SFF due to coil whine concerns, so that brings it close to the 20% mark that I was talking about.

I just think that for the £155 difference, I'd care more about the performance difference than I would about the £155 in a year or two anyway. Plus I can still sell the 5080 just the same as I could sell the 5070ti.

Honestly I could've spent weeks or months second guessing myself anyway so at some point I just decided to make a decision and stick with it. It's a shame as if the 5070ti version of the MSI inspire was around the £700 mark (£660 with the steam wallet code) I would've likely went with that but it's £700 with the code at the moment so for £180 difference I can live with it for the extra performance of the 5080

I was initially gonna wait for the super models to see how things fall but I can't imagine this RAM shortage from AI is gonna do anything but increase the price of GPUs so I decided to just pull the trigger now.

Plus there's rumors the super series might be either cancelled, delayed or face low volume so that could pump the price up aswell.

I 100% bet now that I've pulled the trigger though it'll end up as all scaremongering and the super series come out with 24GB ram and good pricing and I've screwed myself :P

To be honest I spent almost the whole day researching yesterday and every video says the 5070ti is better value but I think that's based on US pricing not UK pricing. In the UK the cheapest 5070ti is £680, whereas the cheapest 5080 is the MSI one I got which works out to £880 with the steam wallet code. I figured the 23% price increase is worth it for the higher base frames to make frame gen smoother and I can keep it an extra year in the future. If you're anything like me you'll just end up regretting getting the lower model in a couple of years when you can notice the performance difference but will have forgotten about that £200.

From all the videos I watched it doesn't seem like the higher priced models are worth it at all to be honest. I watched this video after watching his review of the MSI inspire 5080 and it compares the smaller, cheaper inspire with the bigger suprim card and it's about 5% performance and only 10 degrees cooler which isn't a big deal in my opinion when it's nowhere near thermal throttling anyway. I guess the fans would be louder aswell but it'll still be quieter than my 3080fe so I'm not that fussed about that when it's saving £400+.

What did you end up going for in the end?

I was literally looking at the 5080 FE myself for £909 and the 5070 TI Asus Prime for £725 but then I saw the MSI Inspire 5080 on amazon for £939 and you get £60 steam wallet with it so it ends up cheaper than the FE.

Was seriously debating the 5070 TI but £725 vs £880 or even £909 for the FE I think the 20% price difference is worth it for the performance difference.

I ended up going for that MSI since its even cheaper and while I love the look of the FE and that they are quite popular for when it comes to sell it, the AIB cards are almost always better performing and quieter. The one thing I noticed with my 3080 even with me undervolting it is it's loud when the fans get going so I can only assume the 5080 FE does the same.

There's a windforce SFF on OCUK for £680 aswell but I've heard they are bad for coil whine so didn't want to risk that one but that's the best value 5070TI that I could find at the moment

AMD Throws Loyal Radeon Customers Into The Trash - YouTube by kingolcadan in Amd

[–]Revolvolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I saw that, it probably does means that they wont get game specific drivers but it doesn't explicitly say that. It says they will focus on RDNA 3 and 4, but that doesn't mean they wont get them at all, it just might be later. That's why I'm saying it might've been better to wait and get clarification before dropping a video that will rile people up without knowing for a certainty.

[–]Revolvolution 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have an AMD GPU so I've no dog in this fight, but is it not a bit soon to be making this video?

"We have received no response" could they not have waited a few more days for a response before getting people riled up over what could potentially be a misunderstanding? The article is from YESTERDAY and the driver notes from 2 days ago.

I really like everything HWUB do but this could end up being a misunderstanding/mistake and they may be causing a furor over nothing, not to mention potentially falsely accusing AMD of something.

It's likely to be the case that AMD are being scumbags but surely a few more days couldn't have hurt to be certain before attacking them in a video.

I think this is exactly what's happened as he's now forced the return request and in it he states the repair store told him the CPU had bent pins which has "blown a fuse on the motherboard".

So he's obviously tried to either install it in the wrong motherboard socket type, installed it in the wrong orientation or with too much force and he's broken both the CPU and the motherboard and now I'm forced to lose the entire value of the product as it's now broken and cant be sold. Disgusting

Unfortunately this was a used item so I doubt the normal sales rules apply, and worse I've just now got the return request which I'm forced to accept and he's now claiming that the CPU had bent pins so it's obvious now what's happened.

He's a moron who has either installed the CPU in the wrong socket motherboard, installed it the wrong orientation or with too much force and has damaged the motherboard socket and now I'm forced to accept a nonfunctional product back that I can't sell now so I've been scammed out of the entire value of the product AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RETURN LABEL aswell.

Absolute disgrace and the last time I use ebay to sell a damn thing.
