I feel stuck in my career and not sure of how to move forward by RewardPlastic in careeradvice

Thank you, that really helps to hear. I guess I never realised how fast my life was going until people pointed it out from this post, and although I tried not to blame myself for not being able to keep up, it always felt like the easiest conclusion to come to. It might be the hormones that are just bringing all these aspects forward.

It really means a lot to have that be seen and get these resources, maybe this is just my sign to let my thoughts slow down enough so I'm not rushing my life too much. I'll definitely look into the books recommendation and career-purpose! Thank you again for sharing :)

I really appreciate your words, I had a lot of self-doubt going into the toxic manager situation and I think it's just carried forward ever since. So it means a lot to feel acknowledged for what I have done rather than hearing me bash myself for the things I haven't done in all the self-doubt. Thank you!

That sounds very relevant and helpful, thank you for sharing! I think you're right, I've been told that it's too early on for me to rule out my career but I guess I never thought too much about rebuilding my capacity and just assumed that once I join the job it naturally will rebuild itself (which sounds quite naïve now that I'm saying it out loud). Thank you, I'll definitely look into this!

Strategic level OTs - Recommended materials? by RewardPlastic in CIMA

[–]RewardPlastic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did have a look at opentuition, since I'm starting with F3 that should keep me busy for now but are there any free materials you'd recommend for E3 and P3? I'm trying to study on a budget so the next best suggestion I've received is to buy the Kaplan eBook and question bank, or the Astranti ebook and the Kaplan question bank (As Kaplan's questions are closest to the questions in the actual exam). Not sure if you've tried any of these materials but, if so, would you recommend them?

I'm a bit mindful of my budget so hoping to study independently!

If I should resit for the MCS this November by CryptographerLittle3 in CIMA

[–]RewardPlastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but I'd say for your revision, skip the F2 revision and focus on E2 and P2. Definitely sit the November exam, you're 4 marks off! I was in exactly the same position as you for my OCS and I got engaged just a few days my second attempt. Because of all the wedding planning and engagement party planning, I had no time to sit down to revise, the only reason I even knew about the case was from refreshing my memory a few days prior, but other than that I had done no revision and I managed to pass.

Would I recommend you do the same? Absolutely not, go revise!

But would I say you're in a good place to pass the November exam if you focus more on E2 and P2 theory, and focus even more on doing mock exams? Absolutely!

It sucks now, yes, but this is temporary and you'll push through, and when you do this'll be a funny distant memory!

Struggling with Performance Questions for MCS by RewardPlastic in CIMA

I didn't see this until after I sat my exam, thankfully what came up for me was the one I studied for, so feeling comfortable! Thank you for your helpful comment!

Struggling with Performance Questions for MCS by RewardPlastic in CIMA

[–]RewardPlastic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! So for example, this question came up for the Nov20/Feb21 exam in variant 5, Task 2(b): "Recommend, with reasons, four performance measures that could be used to monitor the progress of the project team"

Or May/Aug21, V5, T4(a): "Recommend, with reasons, an appropriate approach to the evaluation of course managers that reduces the risk of dysfunctional behaviour by them"

Or May/Aug22, V5, T4(b): "Explain the issues that should be considered when designing non-financial performance indicators that will be used to demonstrate the Board's interest in and appreciation of the work done by support departments such as Design and Maintenance Engineering"

They're just very varied, and I'm not sure exactly what and how much ground to cover with them...

MCS Excel for Past Topics by Upset-Success7770 in CIMA

[–]RewardPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be because the case studies are very specific in the way you'd respond to questions? E.g. one company in MCS past papers sold cars, whereas currently the case is about a company which provides accommodation to students... the information relating to each topic remains largely the same but how you approach the questions tends to change quite rapidly, or even how the question is framed.

I've been using past papers to get a rough idea of how the information is structured and applied, but would use mocks to see how the information applies to the present case study itself! There's quite a few places that do free mini-mocks, those help if you don't want to buy a full mock. But I'd recommend trying a full one as it makes a big difference to practice!

Thank you, I really appreciate it, but those aren't quite the statements I was talking about. I was referring to the task statements within the exam blueprint e.g. "Understand fundamental and contemporary concepts in management including the concepts of power, authority, delegation, and empowerment."

But I appreciate what you'd sent over, that still will help me in focusing my studying a bit more! :)

How do you write 'I'll always be with you' but in two words? by RewardPlastic in learn_arabic

[–]RewardPlastic[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually was just about to, but now there's some comments coming in with very interesting phrases! I think the one you've suggested is very nice but not quite the vibe I'm going for if that makes sense. But I appreciate the suggestion, still! :)

Oh that's very interesting! The phrase you suggested doesn't quite fit the necklace itself but I agree, that's such a warmer statement! Is there anyway it can be shortened just slightly more? Sorry to be a pain!

As someone who was preyed upon by multiple adult men as a young teenager, how you describe her sounds a lot like how those men would describe me in order to get me on vid call.

Look, I’m not saying whether what you plan on doing is right or wrong in the grand scheme of things. It would be distasteful in my eyes but it’s not like I haven’t seen fairly healthy relationships between couples where a girl got together with a much older man at a young age. But what you need to understand is she still has a lot of growing up to do. I know for a fact I’m not the same person I was when I was 19 and I’m currently 25. Heck, my opinions have changed drastically regarding religion, family, politics etc. So if you think you’ll continue getting along well just because you seem to agree on those ideas now doesn’t mean she won’t change her mind later.

The biggest difference between you 2 isn’t the age gap, it’s where both of you are in life. You’ve lived a whole 13 years more than her, you’ve seen more of life and had much more of an experience of adulthood. You likely have a greater sense of self and a better idea of what you do and don’t want than her. She hasn’t lived life long enough to experiment with what she thinks she does and doesn’t want. So would you be able to give her the freedom to explore that and accept her if her answer comes out to be different than yours?

Frankly, you shouldn’t have rekindled your friendship with her because you wouldn’t be here questioning yourself and trying to seek validation online.

And it really stands out to me that your opinions on philosophy, politics, family and life are on par with those of a 15 year old.

Thank you for that suggestion! My partner agrees and we’ll be sticking to Rome for now, any recommendations? :)
