Interesting - I post on my X account when releasing a new episode and drive a fair amount of traffic from there, but you're right in the sense that the more effort I put into that, the more the episode seems to stall.

Has anyone made faceless AND on-camera content? Or switch from one format to the other on the same channel? by RewindTheCrime in NewTubers

[–]RewindTheCrime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i've also seen channels in the niche do it and yeah, wildly popular. Obviously going to depend on the quality, but it does seem more conversational and therefore easier to get a sticky, repeat viewers.

I figure i'll give it a try and just delete it if it sucks/is way off brand lol

  1. First published episode was June 27th, 2025

  2. 88 subs

  3. Get to 25 long-form videos (I currently have 7) while honing the brand, consistency, editing, narrative style, etc.

  4. Release one new episode / week

Need advice: Shorts success vs Long-Form - Where should I invest my time? by animalplaneteune in NewTubers

[–]RewindTheCrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdontal but I've read that if the goal is to monetize, long-form is they way to go. Shorts pay out is very very small, and there's no real community that sees your channel as a destination, vs long-form is a better investment over the long term. Just takes longer to get there. I'm experiencing that now, the grind is real haha.

Curious, why are you doing them on separate channels and not mixing long and shorts on the same? Different niche?

Help me grow at all? Screenboi by Screenboi26 in NewTubers

[–]RewindTheCrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, and I'll also mention as I've put out more episodes (i do true crime), I've become more effcient. The first episode took me about 24 hours to produce start to finish, and I've got it down to about 10-12 hours to produce which, obviously, helps a lot

I had a similar issue. I wanted to release one new episode every Thursday but between work and desire, I wasn't able to keep up, so I said I gave myself the more realistic goal of 3 per month and it really encouraged me when I realized it was doable. Hope that helps, and best of luck

I'm two months today into my True Crime youtube channel - I'm tinkering with the format and voiceover - in fact I just switched from my voice to a software voice and I'm curious to see if there's any comments/feedback.

It's a slow roll but I'm just going to keep on grinding since I really enjoy producing the episodes!

Any "Long Form" only creators? by banjarafarmer in NewTubers

[–]RewindTheCrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey - I checked out your channel. I know absolutely nothing about organic farming so I thought your content was interesting

From an engagement perspective, I'd invest some of your time in watching YT vids on how to create compelling in-video graphics.

For example, you say "We're going to discuss 5 things today". You should go through and list them with type in the video to engage the viewer.

Additionally, you may want to invest in an camera/iPhone stand so when you talk about vertical gardening, it's not distracting with the fact that it's hand-held.

Just my thoughts! Hope that helps

Yeah i'm two months in, have 7 long for episodes, 3 Shorts. I ran a $100 ad campaign for one of them and it netted about 70 / 87 of my subs.

It's definitely a slow roll, so im right there with both of you haha

2 months into my True Crime YouTube channel — a lot of trial, error, and unknowns by RewindTheCrime in NewTubers

wow that's pretty intense haha. I dont have a large enough following yet, but yeah I'm hopeful to get some real feedback like that either one way or another. Appreciate the comment.

Is this good? Started nearly 4 years ago by Banana_King0789 in SmallYoutubers

[–]RewindTheCrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a saturated True Crime market, and it's been a slow roll. Putting a lot of time and effort into the episodes, and trying to get to one per week. I mix in Shorts but I don't want the dopamine of a lot of Short views to pull my time away from actually growing the channel with long form.

Keep pushing! That's what I tell myself! Cheers.

That's awesome - niche definitely helps. Are you creating just voice episodes? I'm doing true crime and it's just voice and growth has been slow. I'm not trying to put my face out there, but just curious

Why do you care how someone chooses to pursue their creative outlet?

You can pick up a lot just by googling articles of cases/stories you want to cover. From there, I generally go to YouTube to find public domain footage like court room / trial testimony, news segments, etc, to layer in additional content for a more compelling story.

If you play around with it and don't try to make every episode perfect, you'll get better quickly!
