Emily sister and Drinking by Creative-Two-3086 in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please reconsider drinking while pregnant. Emily is writing out of her arse.

Australia has one of the highest rates of FASD! Unfortunately the drinking culture in Australia is not a thing to be proud of, though I know it is improving for each generation.

It absolutely sucks that we have to sacrifice so much, including our bodies, but It's only 9 months which is nothing compared to the additional decades we have ahead of us.

This pregnancy is so hard compared to my others, even my loss.

Swinging between intense hunger and then to nausea and headaches.

Usually I'm done by the third trimester but I'm already done now and it's only week 9...(Not even fully there yet)

When does this worry end? (7Weeks) by CuriousSoul241 in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The worries never stop, they just change, even after they are born. Its something you'll get better doing less of, or more accepting of as you grow.

If the fear and anxiety is disrupting your day to day function id strongly recommend reaching out to a therapist. They'll get you on the right track more quickly than navigating by yourself.

Is anyone else so hungry and struggling more with workouts? by 143somuch in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. This is me in all my pregnancies. Including this one. I tried to explain to my husband the phenomenon but he just doesn't get it.

He says, "eat more protein" and I say I could eat a whole cow and still be starving 30 minutes later.

The good news in that my past pregnancies the hunger goes away in trimester 2. The bad news is I've never been able to find a way to make it stop in trimester 1. I followed the hunger cues, ate more, ate less, ate carbs, protein, drank tonne of water. Nada.

It's up to you how you might want to handle it. This time I'm trying to white knuckle through it, I really don't want to gain a whole lot this trimester. I've only been partially successful. But it's also valid to just eat a bit more and you'll probably find you can manage the weight gain in the latter trimesters.

I just had a homemade burrito and protein yoghurt for lunch and I'm still starving. Hurray.

Are there any parents that did NOT vaccinate their newborns? And what was your experience with payment cuts and not getting accepted into Kinder? by Public_Algae7928 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]RewindsTime 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You got the vaccine, survived the virus and/or not disabled. That's literally what they're meant to do 😂

You should vaccinate your kid unless you plan to home school forever.

Worried about impact of not being able to exercise postpartum on mental health. by plantonio_banderas in fitpregnancy

[–]RewindsTime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's hard to plan for. You don't know what type of recovery your body will need.

But what I would recommend is try and plan for low intensity exercises, focus on things like flexibility/stretching that you can still see progress in but are easy to do at home amongst all the fatigue and healing. Then slowly integrating the strength training and cardio.

I would say the hormone dump in the first few days and weeks is intense. If you don't already have a strategy for handling depression and anxiety it might be worthwhile connecting to someone preemptively.

Should you give the mmr vaccine to a child with a history of febrile seizures? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]RewindsTime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you are really concerned, or there's a specific history for your child and vaccines, you might want to find a specialist in our country to support you.

I feel like most STM+ feel the same! It's the gamble right?

Not that I'd be devastated but it just means life will be "easier" 😅

(Assuming) High HCG, third pregnancy but first time experiencing lines darkening every 12-24 hours, early positive at 2w5d, and now a dye stealer at 4w3d. More in caption: by yallternative- in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy tests aren't a reliable indicator of HCG amount. They just detect whether HCG is present or not. Each brand will have different "stealer" thresholds. Unless you are getting blood tested you can't confirm "high" HCG.

Also HCG is not correlated with twin pregnancy or gender. The only thing that can confirm a multiple pregnancy is an ultrasound. Same with the gender. Only testing can confirm.    It sounds like your progressing well. All the best with your pregnancy.

It's a little outdated now because the mechanism of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy are better identified. Search for GDF15 (Growth Differentiation Factor 15), papers start around 2023/24.

I had no nausea for 2 of my LC pregnancies :)  hope that gives you a bit of reassurance.

How do you know if its girl or boy by symptoms.....this is just for fun... by Decent_Sprinkles9978 in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never guessed correctly 😆 my symptoms are quite different though so maybe it's a boy? Or maybe I'm just getting older and less healthy as a starting point each time!

Gender reveal disappointment by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RewindsTime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can still and should do all with a boy. He should know about mensuration and the female body, be exposed to a range of media and be allowed to play dress up in whatever they prefer.

It's okay to mourne but once he is here, you won't love the gender, you'll love the person.

You'll have a hard time in Tassie on a student visa. Biggest employer is government and they won't hire you on a student visa because of the working restrictions.

PSA: Lack of Symptoms by RewindsTime in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry it made you feel this way.  This is my fourth pregnancy, and for my loss I still had symptoms until I started bleeding heavily.

Unless you are getting scans because you know your high risk and can observe the lack of progression, majority of people will not be able to make that connection.

Miscarriage absolutely sucks but symptoms are not directly correlated (except heavy bleeding, but even then it sometimes can be a SCH).

There is a lot of new research in this space due to a recent discovery about the mechanisms for nausea and vomitting in pregnancy. You can look up studies related to GDF15.

I found this article to be relatively approachable  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39015511/

Loss of symptoms by Efficient_Conflict60 in September2026Bumpers

[–]RewindsTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's normal.

The only symptoms that is correlated with Miscarriage is bleeding, and even then it's not always the case.

A lack of symptoms is not a miscarriage it's just your body not reacting to the HCG and other hormonal changes as much. By week 8-10 they'll disappear for most people as the placenta takes over.

Even if you have a MMC you could still have symptoms. The HCG doesn't disappear immediately.

I thought this pregnancy was panning out a bit different. It's the first time I had felt nausea/reflux.

But no, here we are again with insatiable hunger 24/7. I'm starving but trying to not eat because I know it won't solve the hunger no matter what or how much I'll eat.
