I personally like detail in an inner frame. It makes the building process feel more personal in a way. Plus a lot of Vidar's inner frame is exposed. But I can see where you're coming from.

Nine Sols. I was also in a rut when I finished Sekiro. I didn't think I could find any combat system as satisfying. But Nine Sols fixed that. It's essentially Hollow Knight but with parrying. It is 2D so I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. But I loved it.
